Former 'Bachelor' Star Melissa Rycroft Gives Birth

Melissa Rycroft Strickland is an excited new mom! The former 'Bachelor' contestant and husband Tye Strickland welcomed daughter Ava Grace on Wednesday afternoon, her rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

Ava Grace weighed 6 lbs., 13 oz. and is the first child for the couple. The former 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant gave birth in Dallas, Texas.

"Our lives have changed so much in the last two years, and today we've been blessed with the best change ever, our beautiful baby girl," the Stricklands told PEOPLE.

The pair revealed the pregnancy in July of last year. "It was a shock. We weren't even trying," says Rycroft-Strickland, who married insurance agent Strickland in December after a sad end on 'The Bachelor' in 2009. "It's the most wonderful surprise in the world. It's such a blessing."

A 27-year-old former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Melissa, who appeared on 'Dancing With the Stars' and co-hosts ABC's 'Bachelor Pad,' didn't exactly have children on her mind quite yet. "[Tye] wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him, going, 'No, not ready!'" she told UsMagazine.com at the time.

You are dumb. Of course they had sex they are married. You obviously have no clue what it's like to try to have a baby. Some people are blessed and don't have to try to have a baby it just happens for them. You only have a 20% chance of getting pregnant two days of the month. If you knew anything at all you would understand that. When she says "we weren't trying" she meant actively trying during each month to conceive. Moron. This is a blessing for them and if you don't have something positive to say keep it to yourself.

What is WRONG with you???!!!! That's quite a stretch stating they weren't having sex because they weren't actively trying to have a baby. And then to screech at the person who called you on your silly statement? Time for your pill, I think.

congrats to the happy new parents. love the name at least mother and child are healthy otherwise it wouldn't have been confrimed so quickly and it's not like the baby was underweight at birth either 6lbs 13oz in in the healthy weight range for a single birth baby which is between 6lbs and 9lbs 8oz. not like twins which average weight is between 5lbs 4oz and 6lbs. for example my father and his twin sister were 6lbs 8oz and 5lbs 2oz at birth 51 years ago and he's about 140lbs heavier than her now and a foot taller

Melissa Rycrost is immature, ditzy and very trashy. Thank God that Jason Mesnik (nice guy) realized what a disaster it would have been getting married to her and dumped her as soon as he found out what she was all about and married Molly instead. whew! He dogded a bullet. Hopefully this is the last we will here of Melissa Rycroft.
