Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz had lunch together with son Bronx in Beverly Hills this week, giving some hope to shell-shocked friends that they might reconsider their divorce. Insiders tell me, however, that's not going to happen if Ashlee's dad, Joe Simpson, has his way."Just like when Jessica split from Nick, Joe is doing nothing to encourage Ashlee to give the marriage another try, if only for the sake of her son," an insider tells me. "Joe likes being the only man in his daughters' lives and is happy that Ashlee has moved back into his home [in Encino, Calif.], just like Jessica did after she announced she was leaving Nick."

Both girls are doomed like the Jackson kids were with their father pushing them. She needs to make herself happy and not do it just because her dad says so. Thought dad's were supposed to want happiness for their daughters? Guess he never got the memo.

Jessica and Ashley's dad seems like a loser. I could understand protective parents but seriously, he has to let his daughters grow up and have their own lives rather than being the third wheel in the marriage. What a weird situation.

What kind of control does this man have over his daughters? He is acting like a bulldozer. Jessica and Nick were doing just fine before Daddy Joe stepped in and now he's gloating that he's done it to his other daughter. How does he manage to get rid of them? I am just wondering...don't these ex sons-in-law have any backbone??? What is Daddy Joe promising his daughters in return for dumping the husbands???

Papa Joe is a twisted little man. His incestual tendencies can't be denied at this point. I think he is so narcisistic that he invisions his daughters as sexual objects since the resemble him and have his genes. This family is from the "NO DIVING" end of the gene pool!

That's not what I hurd, Wendy Williams said on her show, that Ashlee has been staying at Jessica's house, the same way Ashlee supported her when she was going through with her divorce. I believe Wendy, she gets all the good dirt!

I AGREE WITH POPEATER. He wasn't too young at all. He was already a grown man of 28 years and he probably had been with many women and had many relationships given the fact that he's a rock musicians.
Ashlee, however, is another story. She was a 23 year old girl (which is SO NOT the same as a 28 year old man). She was also very sheltered because Papa Joe was always around and always looking after her. H.e might look like a fun loving type of dad but he was also pretty strict. I think Ashlee might have even been a virgin.
Aslee as too young, too sheltered, and too inexperienced for marriage. But Pete Wentz was more than ready. He should have found someone a little older than a girl in her early 20s and also with more life experience and maturity.

Somebody needs to tie this dad's hands behind his back and put some duct tape over his mouth! Where is Ash and Jess's mother in all this? You never hear of that woman's opinion EVER! If Ashlee is really having problems with Pete's behavior, then that will be her own choice. But if dad had anything to do with it...grrr.

Didn't her dad used to be a preacher or a deacon at a church? I don't know if he was or not but I do know that they were big into the church. You would think that he would be counseling them instead of trying to break them up.
I hope she and Pete get back together and move to England away from daddy.

i feel bad for Pete in all of this. And more so, his son. he is definitely a family man and Ashlee and her dad are tearing their family apart. the fact that Pete doesn't want a divorce surely says something about Ashlee and her need for fame. get married to a successful musician for the attention and then divorce him...for the attention. Ashlee and her dad are sick.

Daddy Joe has his issues but Momma Simpson , in my opinion, is just as bad if not worse.I still remember the MTV show episode when Jessica was not feeling well and her Mother asked her if she was pregnant. When she didn't answer right away, her mother said" you know this is not the time to have a baby Jessica..things are starting to really take off now. " considering that Nick was quite vocal about wanting to start a family, it struck me as really intrusive on the Mother's part. I have drawn my own conclusions based on subsequent events and statements Jessica herself has made about regretting choices she allowed herself to be talked into. For me, it explains why she seemed (seems?) unable to let herself have real love.Hope her sister is wiser.

Now let's see....daddy broke up the marriage between Jessica and Nick. Now he has broken up the Simpson-Wentz marriage. Why don't these women stand their ground and get daddy out of their lives????
