Another day, another drama for troubled actress Lindsay Lohan. Luckily for her, this time it has nothing to do with any felony charges. She was mistakenly booked to appear on the 'Late Show with David Letterman,' and the talk show host commented on the situation on his show Wednesday night.
"I have no one to blame but myself, and boy, is my face is red," Letterman said about the mix-up. Lohan's scheduled appearance was highly publicized throughout the media.
"I hope I didn't embarrass you, Lindsay, and your family," the late-night host said -- with a bit of sarcasm -- at the end of his comments. Watch the Letterman video inside.
After Letterman made a joke during a special Grammys 'Top Ten' segment about Lohan "caught stealing a Grammy," the show received a call from someone purportedly from Lohan's camp saying she loved the joke and wanted to appear on the show. She was then booked to read the 'Top Ten' list on Thursday night's show, according to OK! Magazine.
It was later revealed, however, that her father, Michael Lohan, had booked the actress on the show without her permission. Lohan tweeted about the situation on Wednesday.
"I am NOT going to be doing David Letterman, I'm not sure how this happened, but I am sorry for the confusion," she wrote.
After it was discovered that Michael Lohan was behind the stunt, he released a statement to TMZ saying, "Anything positive that I bring into her life ... [her people] try to nix it." He claims his daughter "knew full well" about her cameo appearance on the show, but her handlers quickly shot it down.
CBS also released a statement regarding the Lohan booking, according to OK!
"We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf," Tom Keaney, a spokesman for Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants, said in a statement.
Lohan is facing a felony theft charge for stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venince, Calif., jewelry store last month after leaving a rehab facility. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 23.
Who on earth would want to get involved with her, much less her family? The girl is typecast; the only part she can play is courtroom drama, and she's nothing more than pathetic.
