Lisa Ling 'Devastated' After Lara Logan's Brutal Assault in Egypt

Lisa Ling was 'devastated' when she heard about CBS reporter Lara Logan being surrounded, beaten and sexually
assaulted after being separated from her team in the midst of Egyptian protests last Friday.
Ling was on 'The Wendy Williams Show' on Wednesday, and
PEOPLE is reporting that she said, "When I first heard the story, I was devastated. I have never met her, but she does incredible work, and I wish her and her family well and hope that she comes back strong because her work is really unique. She's a very courageous woman, and I wish her well."
Ling, whose TV-reporter sister Laura Ling was held captive in North Korea for five months back in 2009, referenced that experience and said that people may not be aware of the risks that journalists take.
Ling said, "There are so many unanticipated things that may come up. But I think it's so important for us to support our journalists because we don't want to remain an ignorant society, and it takes courageous journalists to go out there."
CBS News had released a
statement Tuesday which said that on Feb. 11, shortly after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down from power, "chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a '60 Minutes' story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy. In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers."
Logan was able to rejoin her team and return to the U.S. She was recovering in a hospital on Feb. 15.
Logan left the hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 16, to recover in her Washington, DC, home.

When will women learn that men are opportunistic dogs.

Until Lisa Ling and people like her start respecting other countries laws and customs, incidents like this will continue...

I haven't heard what customs Logan was disrespecting. She does have a history of undercutting important journalistic principles however. But nothing that warranet what happened to her.
Take listen, you "ignorant society", lol.

it was her choice to go there

Yes it was her choice. I wonder if she got knocked up? Now raises another question, If she is knocked up is she gonna have an abortion? Let the media cover that one big time too.
What didd she thing was going to happen there? They treat there own women like sh-t so why did she think she would be treated better/Face it the middle east will never be known as women friendly countries.

Lisa and Lara are not related at all, one has nothing to do with the other.
I hate what happened to Lara though, I hope shes doing alright.
No one deserves what happened to Lara, shes a very brave woman to do what shes been doing. I hope from now on woman will be more careful, while over seas reporting. Those people are like animals that have never been trained. They dont think like we do, their so far behind in many ways.

I do believe that u are incorrect. Lisa & Laura are sisters. Google it.
Jounalist thru out time have been on the front lines of history. Who is it that glorifys the battle, makes the heroes? If we didnt have brave Jounalists (women/men)going into dangerous situations to get you the information we need to stay informed and safe. Theses uprisings we are witnessing could very well be in our on backyard if it were not for the these brave women. And yes men have been attacked, killed, kidnapped and brutalized so this is happening to both sexes...
So the "prostesters" won and the president is now out. So in their JOY this is what they do to a woman who they don't even know? You can keep Egypt. It makes these "protesters" cause look not like they were on a mission to rid a man of power and get democracy, but nothing more than a roving gang of thugs who have nothing better to do, no job, no morals, no brains, to roam the streets and do what they do best. NOTHING and abuse women.
I would never blame the victim, but not sure what she was thinking when she went there anyway.

there are jobs that should not be filled with women..one is the military...women are not physically made to go and fight wars and the same can be said of news reporters jobs..they should not be sent to report on chaotic situations such as revolutions and dangerous fighting wherever.they can report on most other news worthy events....but not wars or revolutions.

To those who are inappropriately vilifying Egypt and Egyptians as a whole, please keep in mind that it was EGYPTIANS who likely saved her life! Egyptian women, and Egyptian soldiers.
There are bad apples in every bunch. The same thing happens year after year in New Orleans at the hands of the bad apples in the throngs of people that crowd the streets there. And those are mostly good ol' white college boys, who've got no other excuse than drunkenness and the same sense of misogynistic entitlement that these thugs in Egypt likely did.
Get off your xenophobic high horse!

I'm sorry that Lara went through this ordeal. But why is anyone surprised that this mob of religious mongrels acted like animals? Their religion perpetuates barbarism toward woman and non-believers. And they haven't enough backbone to run their own country. No wonder dictators and tyrants are rampant in the Arab world.

Lisa Ling just called us ignorant...she said, "we don't want to REMAIN an ignorant society". Well Thanks Lisa.

I don't believe the "story." How do you get seperated from your crew in a group of 200 people? No way was she raped. No way.

Hate waht happened to her but unfortunately when you go these countries you are taking a chance for this to happen. Sorry for her but would not have gone. Guess she had too for the job to keep up the the male journalists.

Lisa Ling is a spotlight hog that has no credibility as a journalist. Giving her anymore attention is ruining the world of media journalists who actually work. Stop talking to her on camera!
