Michael Lohan to Billy Ray Cyrus: 'I Feel Your Pain'

Although 'expert' isn't word one would ever imagine seeing next to
Michael Lohan's name, he is a seasoned veteran when it comes to dealing with troubled daughter,
Lindsay Lohan. And Michael isn't letting his knowledge go to waste.
On the heels of
Billy Ray Cyrus'
GQ magazine confession that 'Hannah Montana' was the worst thing that could have happened to daughter
Miley Cyrus, Michael Lohan recognized the similar issues he and the 'Achy Breaky Heart' dad are facing.
In an open letter to Billy Ray posted exclusively by
RadarOnline.com, Michael sympathizes with the same "scrutiny, pain and willingness to sacrifice yourself, for the sake of your family," that Billy Ray is facing. But Michael goes on to say that the pain and sacrifice are well worth it when it comes to protecting your family, even if they are initially resistant to help.
Read the letter after the jump!
The infamous stage dad then references the temptation and lure of Hollywood's "bright light"
before ending the letter with what seems like heartfelt allusions to world peace. So, is this an olive branch genuinely extended to a fellow dad in need or just another way to keep his name in the headlines? You decide:
Billy Ray,
Oh My God! Am I seeing and reliving almost the same exact situations, scrutiny, pain and willingness to sacrifice yourself, for the sake of your family?
As hard and frustrating as it is, believe me when I say, it's a road worth traveled. Even if it may have its bumps and grinds along the way.
As I was raised, there is nothing like the love a man has for his family nor is there any length he will go to save or protect them.
The hardest part is, experiencing the pain that comes from the resistance of the very one(s) you are trying to save.
The one(s) you love so much, and are willing to die for, are too blinded by the "bright light" and people who use our loved one(s) while everyone thinks you are supposed to sit back and pretend it goes unseen.
As I don't see you as any one of the three monkeys with their hands over their ears, eyes and mouth. I, nor you, are the type of men who will sit back and do or say nothing at the risk of being persecuted.
When I look at what you are going through, I am forced to see myself. Two men who know what divorce and alienation, have done to our families.
Why I ask, if it so hard for our wives, children and even the public, to see that all we are trying to do, is to be there for our family and try to make things right?
Isn't it clear that the answer is so easy but the people who don't matter, make it so hard? While all we want is our family and normal lives back, others forsake that for so much more.
Why is it that people don't put themselves in or shoes? And say to themselves, "How would I feel if that was happening to me?"
The sad part is, they don't and they probably never will. But that doesn't mean that men like you and I should ever give up.
While we can't change the world, our example just might touch a few, and maybe even the one(s) we seek to save.
To that end, I want to say, that I know what you are going through, I feel your pain and frustration, and I also admire your strength, dedication and love, for your family in the name of God.
Best and God Bless,
Michael Lohan
"It appears that Michael Lohan's intentions are good in writing this open letter but I don't think Billy Ray Cyrus is going to invite him for Guys Night Out anytime soon,"
RadarOnline founder and executive vice president David Perel tells
PopEater. "You can't find fault with Michael expressing empathy for Billy Ray but most people would say their situations are not parallel. While Miley has exhibited some questionable judgment in her choices, she's never been arrested she hasn't been to rehab Give Michael props for reaching out, but most of us don't see the same strong parallels that he does in the Lohan-Cyrus sagas."
Miley reportedly furious about Billy Ray's interview:

Two of the worst fathers in Hollywood. Two men who never grew up. Terrible examples of what a good parent should be.
Miley needs some direction that is for sure, Billy Ray needs to remember he had his chance in music, is it because Miley is more popular than he was?? Why is he being such a jerk? He needs to get his life together and help Miley before it s too late...

Both have benefited greatly from their daughters successes. Maybe they need to look at themselves and see where they failed. Pain? Where was your pain when you were using their fame for your own glory - specifically Michael Lohan.

Seems these are two fathers who lived off of the daughters successes and Billy Ray managed to get paid by being on Hannah Montana, so he and Michael Lohan should keep the big mouths shut.

Looks like miley is sadly, going to have to learn the hard way.

They are in the "media" we all know how the media can spin thing's. I wouldnt be so quick to judge anyone. I let God do the judging and I do the loving is what I like to say. I wish them all well. If we all lived in the spotlight... How would we be characterized? Yes they chose this life for the most part, being famous. I probaly could've been a famous singer had not been for my stage fright. I wouldn't mind having the some of the privileged of the rich just not the fame. I'd fight to the end for the well-being of my children and family though, no matter what anyone thinks of me.

Real Dad's don't share thier relationships with their daughter's for public view. Real Dad's don't discuss these things with total strangers. Real Dad's don't write open letters about how they are feeling pain. He could have sent him a private note. It is a betrayal of trust to their daughter's by having their fathers discuss them and their private lives in public. Boy does the hollywood crown live in a bubble deprived of reality.

At least they're both trying to protect their families, and Michael is trying to encourage Billy Ray. You don't have to see the worst in everyone.

I would agree with you that at least these two Dads are trying. I would say that Miley is better off than Lindsay though because at least she has a normal mother, Dina Lohan was taking her underage daughter out clubbing and then turning a blind eye to Lindsay's acting out. Give me a break. She had more to do with Lindsay's bad behavior than Michael.
It is tough to decide which one of these 'men,' are the worst father. I would say Billy is the worst, he has pimped out his daughter for years now. Allowing her to do photos, that no real father would let their own daughter do. Allowing her to wear some of the things she was wore while she was only a teenager was total neglect on Billy's part. Billy has always tried to fit in with the young people, like Miley. Billy needs a real hair cut, and he should shave what ever that is one his chin, he looks ridiculous. I would have had some respect for Billy, if he had been working through the years, a job that had nothing to do with Miley. But he has been riding Miley's shirt tale all of these years. Its hard for me to have any respect for any man like that.
Michael, he too loves the spot light. He also has been riding off of his daughter fame. He said months ago, he would never speak to the press about Lindsay ever again, with in two weeks he was on here, talking about his daughter.
At least Michael admitted to making mistakes while rasing his daughter, thats a start. he has a long way to go though before he can consider himself a good father. With Dina and Michael, Lindsay was born with two strikes against her. I do feel sorry for both of these young girls. Some people are just born into bad situations.
