Will Kathie Lee Buy Joan Rivers' $25M Apartment?

Kathie Lee Gifford, who is looking for a new home in NYC, recently took her friend and co-star Hoda Kotb along to check out Joan Rivers' up-for-grabs $25 million apartment. What the 'Today' ladies didn't know was that they were being led around by LXTV executive producer Amy Rosenblum and that Joan herself was listening in.

"It feels more like a hotel or some grand room," Hoda remarks, marveling at the ballroom that once belonged to JP Morgan that Joan transformed into her home. "It's a lot like Joan herself," Kathie Lee remarks. "There's a lot going on all the time with Joan, and there's a lot going on in here."

Joan, who let PopEater preview the clip, says that after hearing Hoda compare her home to a hotel, she immediately thought of another infamous star. "Charlie Sheen has never come in here and locked a naked hooker in my bathroom."

For the record, Joan, it was a porn star that Charlie scared the pants off. But who's quibbling?

Kathy Lee has every right to make any amount of money idiots want to pay her. She is no different than athletes like Coby and Tiger, etc. However, with the economy the way it is, this is the kind of story that makes us all cringe.
But, suggestions for giving Kathy Lee's and Hoda's and Joan's money to build something for people in other countries also makes me cringe. When will the likes of Oprah, and other profoundly rich people remember that there are many people living in the United States who could benefit from their charity, as well? But then, we have to worry about building schools, etc....that are environmentally correct in the US, and then we have to hire only union workers, and then put up the money for the lawyers waiting in line for the law suits aimed at the school teachers, and then only hire teachers who are members of the teacher's union, etc.

Everyone of you nasty people are nothing, but jealous. If Kathie Lee wants to spend 25 million on a NYC apt, why shouldn't she? She and her husband earned the money, seems to me they should spend it the way they choose. I'm sure all the women mentioned in this article donate to charities in some way. How much do all of you donate? Or what do you do to help the hungry and needy? My Grandmother used to say "look in your own backyard before you judge anyone else"

I can't afford to donate money to anyone. However, I save the seeds from the vegs I eat, dry them and plant them in my garden the following year. I always make a point to plant as much as I can, so I have extra vegs to GIVE AWAY to the poor. This year, I am planning to donate vegs I grow to a local food bank and my neighbors. What do YOU do, JR?

Who in there right mind would spend 25 mil on some gawdy apartment in a city of too many people living like rats. You could spend that by where I live and get 27,000 acres of land, with killer custom 5,000 sq foot home, 2,000 sq foot guest home, a helicopter onsite,barns and outbuildings,vinyard,and winery,incredible views and river with wild brook trout for incredible fly fishing, fully self contained set up with no neighbors. But I guess some folks like living as an animal in a cage surrounded by junk.

I am not a Kathie Lee fan, but it never ceases to amaze me when an article like this that tells a story about a celebrity who's spending THEIR earned money ruffles the feathers of all the jealous haters out there. All of a sudden you have people claiming they have nerve for actually spending THEIR OWN money! And then the advice flows: Why don't they help the poor? Why don't they start a charity? (as if they never did). Sheesh! Yes, the economy is bad, and people are out of work, but what has that got to do with Kathie Lee looking to buy an apartment in NYC? She has the money...that's just the way it is.
