Miley Cyrus Receives 'Inspiration' Award
She may be dealing with some
drama in her personal life, but that doesn't mean
Miley Cyrus isn't seen as a role model for today's youth -- at least according to one organization. The teenage actress was honored at a gala over the weekend, where she received the first ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award.
According to
Digital Spy, fellow actress and Disney alum Hilary Duff presented the award -- which honors inspirational figures in the youth community -- to Cyrus at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
Cyrus revealed that Duff has served as her own inspiration in her career.
"I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hilary Duff," she said. "This is like a dream come true to me. She inspired me."
She continued her acceptance speech, urging kids to follow their own dreams, and not just the dreams of those around them.
"I want [kids] to do something they love," Cyrus said. "Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that's the right thing to do or what their parents want or what's important to people around them, but what's in their heart."
Could this be a slight dig at dad Billy Ray Cyrus? The duo are currently
feuding over his
recent 'GQ' interview in which the country crooner admitted the Disney show 'Hannah Montana' -- which starred his daughter -- destroyed his family.

I love Miley and I'm old enough to be her grandmother, I must say that I was a little disappointed in her when she did that salva thing, but I'm sure they all try it, as LONG AS SHE DONESN'T CONTINUE TO USE IT, MILEY YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR MONEY, drugs cost a lot, IT'S NOT WORTH IT TO YOU. A role model,,, parents should be their childs role models.
Never trust a stranger to be your childs role model, it never works out. Right when we think a person is a good person, we only get let down.
