Royal Weddings Through the Years
It seemed straight out of a fairy tale when Prince Charles, 32-year-old heir to the British throne, married 20-year-old Lady Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981. Despite the births of Prince William and Prince Harry, the couple were very ill-suited. Diana bitterly claimed "there were three of us in this marriage" -- a reference to Camilla Parker Bowles. Charles and Diana separated in December 1992 and were divorced in August 1996. A year later, Diana was killed in car crash in Paris.

If the adulterers Charles & Camilla are attending why not Sarah??? I am sure that William & Harry wouln't mind at all. Sarah & Diana were very close. What a bunch of hippocrites.
Sarah still can't move on with her life or reap what she's sown. How sad. I just wish this royal wedding would get done & over with, especially with all of Billy Bush's brownnosing on Access Hollywood.
Of course she can not attend. She is a divorcee, which to the Catholic Church is worse than an adulterer or a child molester.
Um, Mark, royal family not Catholic.
To think that Charles had the sick mindset to have his shag hag Camilla at his wedding to Lady Diana. Charles and Camilla are vile, undignified and disgusting people to have hurt so many throughout their adulterous affair. Cowmilla has no place at all among the royals - especially having got there on her "back"...and Charles is a shameless cad and excuse for a man.
Besides, the report yesterday that she her kids were invited and she wasn't said she had expected as such and couldn't attend anyway since she is currently filming a reality show for the new Oprah Winfrey Network. I think this whole story is a fabrication.
A wedding is a one-time spiritual and celebratory event for a couple. If a person's presence would cast a shadow on that moment, he/she should not be invited. However, since it is a relatively brief experience (one day), if the absence of the presumed invitee would cause much irreparable ripples afterwards, it might be better to invite the person, as this is a one time event. And the same vice versa: that is, it is better for a reluctant invitee to go to a wedding (even if she has to stand in the back) to avoid later regret.
Here, barring a deep reason we don't know or can appreciate, Sarah Ferguson should have been invited to the wedding because she is Prince Williams aunt, and the mother of his first cousins and the mother of the Queen's grandchildren. Presumably the cousins will be there, and it will be sad that their mother will not.
On another side, snubbing Sarah can be a subtle warning to everyone that if someone crosses the royal family (including Catherine) that the price will be high.
Overall, it is a weighing of will her presence advance or detract (in the case if there is serious bad blood) from the spiritual climate of the day. If the answer is yes, then to omit her is correct. If the answer is it won't detract that much, then invite the woman as it shows an air of magnanimity on the part of the royals, and not an air of their usual vindictiveness. Additionally, the bad blood that can occur later will be avoided.

Other reports said she was invited but she declined. Way to sensationalize!
@Mark - Except none of the Royal Family are Catholic. They all belong to the Church of England.
Let's face it, the royal family has a long memory and Sarah will never be forgiven for not following the "family" rules or code of behavior, and staying married to Andrew. They would like to sweep her under a rug but that's a little hard because she is the mother of two of the Queen's granddaughters. She should be invited to the wedding. It's not like they will be preventing any scandal by not inviting her.
Blame herself! She treated the queens grandson bad! redhead!

She married the son, not the grandson. She always treated Prince William and Prince Harry well.
If you gonna be an outcast, you might as well be a royal one.

Why would she even think, that she gets invited. I believe this is a made up story.

Actually, she HAS attended royal weddings. She and Andrew have enjoyed a close relationship. She even lived in the same palace as Andrew long after the divorce.
She attended Prince Edward's wedding a few years ago.
