Billy Ray Cyrus certainly knows how to burn a bridge. First he angers his daughter Miley by comparing her to Anna Nicole Smith. Then he attacks Disney, saying 'Hannah Montana' destroyed his family. Now he goes and upsets TV legend Barbara Walters after his daughter forced him to drop out of a scheduled interview on 'The View' this week."When Miley found out her father was scheduled to appear on 'The View' on Wednesday she went nuts," a family friend tells me. "Only last week, Billy shot his mouth off in GQ, and now he planned to sit down with [Barbara and Whoopi] and talk more crap about his family. No way would Miley or her team let that happen."

All he wants to do is be a good father...he's admitting that he made mistakes and let things happen that he shouldn't. Of course, bring the spoiled little brat teenager that she is....she gets angry instead of appreciating what he's done for her. Typical.

First of all, if he went on the View he wouldn't be able to get a word in with all those loudmouth, abrasive, nerve wracking hosts on that show. However, I think he's probably desperate to get Miley to listen to him. We've seen several parents of teen stars use the media to get their point across. Of course the teens scream "traitor" and claim their parents are just using them for publicity. I have friends in the entertainment industry and you are just a money making entity, the powers that be don't care about you as a person, it's all about the dollar. Billy Ray is experienced in the industry and he knows how cut throat it is. He obviously loves Miley and has sacrificed much to try to be there to keep her safe, but if she's 18 she is considered an adult and Daddy has no more say in her career or choices. Just look at Lindsay Lohan and how her dad (I know he's not a saint, but I think it's her mom that wants celebrity) tried to get her help and even resorted to the media, but she didn't listen. Now look at where she is.

I am so grateful to God that I have a "small" but valuable life and that I am not a celebrity. I find them all so sad. Fame takes hold and suddenly "that" is more important than their own family. They are pathetic. They have everything in the world, many of them, but what's important and that's a good family life. They're either drugged out, familys broken, or they are so unhappy or can't keep a marriage together. They're lives are not God Centered, but materialistic and fame centered. I feel so sorry for them all.

Her "Handlers" are causing her father to reach out to her fans & the public for help. The "HANDLERS" are basically the "Contract." The devil is in the details... Literally ... He is correct in wishing Miley never did Hana Montana for Disney. You get Fame, Wealth and all the trappings of stardom but your soul is gone forever. They "owners of the contract" can control your life. Everything from the way you dress, to endorsement deals to your medical records. Bound by a piece of paper, she will never have "her" own life back. Michael Jackson's mother can't even release a book about her own son without going through the people who "owned" Michael. Billy Ray should have known that! Who's got the Achy Breaky Heart Now! Guess he had to fulfill his obligation for his Stardom! Ah, just like the old days when a fater would grant his daughters hand to her future husband.

What a spoiled child she is. Did not like her before and don't like her now. Never allowed my daughter to watch her show and never bought one of her CDs. Has no talent at all. Who is she to tell her dad what he can or can not do.

@Victoria, what planet have you been living on for the last 5 years? Miley Cyrus is a world renowned superstar, so saying she's too young to be a star and that she should wait till she's older sounds ridiculous. That ship had sailed by the time she was 13. She's an adult now and I doubt she's going to "wait" to be a star, since she's already the most successful teenage star in the world today.
@Rob Shuter, I wonder if you are aware of how utterly stupid the spin you've put on this story makes you sound? First of all, the only real fact in your report is that crazy Billy Ray was scheduled to be on the view and then cancelled. Do you really think that his daughter has some kind of mystical power over him such that she could force him to cancel the view. Whomever you've been talking to who claims to be "a family friend" clearly has taken you for a ride, if he/she is in fact even real. This unnamed source tells you "only last week Billy shot his mouth off in GQ..." yet Billy did that interview on Dec. 15, as the author of the article reveals, not last week. This "close family friend" doesn't seem to know very much. So, it's just plain idiotic to claim that Miley forced her father off "The View." We did see pictures of Tish Cyrus meeting with Billy Ray last week in a pet graveyard. A more likely scenario would be that Tish reasoned with Billy Ray that an appearance on "The View" would already damage is career, which he just about sank in the GQ interview by publicly trashing his own daughter with tabloid lies. It should be obvious to everyone that Billy Ray is suffering some kind of a mental breakdown and GQ took advantage of his mental illness.

Billy Ray has always been a nutjob. His career burned and crashed in less than 3 years, so he pimped his daughter and mooched off of her until she'd had enough. His wife left him for good reasons, and now he's trying to get another 15 minutes of fame by ticking everyone including Disney off. I'm surprised Miley's camp didn't slap him - with a gag order.

The sad thing is that he was willing to pimp her out in order to regain the spotlight for himself but now that she doesn't need him he resorts to selling interviews all over the place. He was a one-hit-wonder and nothing more. He is way more famous for being Miley's dad than he ever was for being a celebrity.
