Jon and Kate 'Miss Each Other'; Settling Into More Normal Lives

Jon Gosselin is doing everything he can to win back the love of ex-wife, Kate, including getting a real job to impress his ex.

"They both realize how much they miss each other," a friend of the couple's tells me. "Neither one of them have been really happy since their ugly split and would love to turn back time to the point where they were both in love before fame took over."

Jon recently traded his Ed Hardy shirts for a hardhat and scored a job with Green Pointe Energy, a Pennsylvania-based renewable energy company. The former reality star and computer techie spends his days installing solar panels and doing other good-for-the-planet deeds.

"Jon is in a great place," a friend of the father of eight told me last month. "He is happy and knows what a fool he made of himself after his split from Kate."

Of course the rehabilitation of Jon began last October when he publicly acknowledged his bad choices and apologized to his ex-wife and kids.

"I am acutely aware of the mistakes I made in 2009 and I am ashamed of the choices I made," Jon wrote on Twitter. "I have apologized to Kate, my family, and to my friends. Through counseling I have learned to own my actions. My goal is to move forward in a positive direction."

So after the ups and downs of 2010, the couple have found peace again, especially now that the cameras have gone away. As everything has started to return to normal so have Jon and Kate with Jon now working in green construction and Kate turning to being a full-time mom again.

"After the split the both of them were out of control. Kate thought she was going to be dating Brad Pitt, and Jon was sure he was going to be a superstar. Neither one of them found what they were looking for when they were single and have both come to the conclusion that maybe they are right for each other."

Plus, it wouldn't hurt ratings on next season's show! Just saying ...

I thought Kate was still dating her boyfriend/bodyguard (or whatever she wants to call him). No?

I hate to say it, but sometimes couples need time apart to appreciate one another. If they genuinely want to get back together (although, there's not much talk about Kate wanting to get back together in this not-so-reliable Internet post,) I'll support them. I only recently started watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 after catching a few episodes of Kate Plus 8 last year. They seemed pretty happy in the first couple of seasons...and as normal as a couple can be for having eight children. Their lives changed very abruptly, and I'm betting both could have made better choices, particularly Jon, who has no one but himself to blame for cheating on his family. If they acknowledge their mistakes and can reconcile, good for them.

By the way, it's "friend of the couple," not "friend of the couple's"--it's alarming how anyone with an 8th grade diploma can publish stuff these days.

They should take it 1 day at a time, rebuild trust and take it from there. I wish them the best no matter what decision they make.

I only hope that if Jon and Kate do get back together, they don't have another show. It's too much drama, Kate will always have the last word, put Jon down... I don't think anything will change. That is except for the children... they're older now and if the yelling and fits didn't affect them the last time, it will now. I feel bad for these 'kids', and as someone mentioned they're whiners and brats, well who made them that way. It's not the childen's fault...

They both need to grow up for the sake of those children. i don't think it is good for any of them to be on tv right now. They need to focus on finding a balance in this situation. i really never was a fan of either one of them but i hope they do better for themselves and those children.

They really belong with one another nobody would take all their kids as their own. They just got in over their heads in the hype and fawning now that the show is over they can lead the lives they were supposed to lead, to take care of those children that they made together.
The rest of the world needs to go away and if they just fire their publicist and act like real good parents their kids lives might be good too. Nobody is perfect not them nor anyone in this world leave them alone and go stalk somebody else.

In the early shows where they were "happily" married, it seems their personalities never meshed well. Kate always strove to be the one in control while Jon was absent emotionally and physically as often as he could be... At least Kate stepped up and made sure food was on the table while Jon - did whatever and whoever he could. The kids got the worst end of the parent bargain. Kate needs a man who is mature and will stand up to her as an equal partner, not a doormat. Jon- well, he needs to explore the joys of celibate life for a couple of years.

I HOPE they do get back together. Their life looked pretty normal and fairly happy for having that many kids. Kate has loosened up some from necessity and Jon well, he has learned his lesson I think. They won't be the perfect couple but who is?
