Uh-O: Rosie and Oprah Have Their Very OWN Rift
Rosie O'Donnell has just
split from her girlfriend of over a year, Tracy Kachtick-Anders, but the former TV queen has another relationship problem to deal with, and it involves her powerful new boss,
Oprah Winfrey.
"Oprah and Rosie have not been seeing eye to eye on the tone of Rosie's new show" on OWN, an insider with knowledge of the situation tells me. "Oprah sees it as a friendly daytime talk show where viewers get to spend an hour with the old Rosie they used to love. Rosie, on the other hand, thinks the show should be more political and a place where she can express her liberal views."
Oprah confirmed that she gave Rosie a warning before moving ahead with the new show, telling her she "better behave" on OWN. Oprah even visited Rosie at her home.
Her account: "Rosie said, 'I know you're here to assess how crazy I am.' I said, 'Basically, yes. I'm doing a crazy check.'"
The check, however, doesn't appear to have been thorough enough, with Rosie already annoying Oprah by resisting her pick for executive producer.
"The two are disagreeing over staff," my source tells me. "Oprah wants Rosie to use an executive producer that she knows and trusts while Rosie insists she be able to pick her own, fearing whoever Oprah picks will be a spy. It's a bad way to start off, considering they haven't even taped a single show yet."
Something that might never happen if Rosie doesn't learn the lesson soon: Oprah is the boss!

Oprah doesn't miss the mark too often, but putting this loud mouthed, offensive, agenda driven, intentionally rude and obnoxious shrew on OWN is a huge mistake. I'm all for ratings, but I go to Oprah for inspiration, not to watch a pissing contest. Wake up, Oprah. You're tarnishing your franchise by putting Rosie on. Get Ellen. Get J-Lo. Get Condeleeza Rice. Get Leeza Gibbons. Get Wanda Sykes. ANYBODY but Rosie O'Donnell.

I agree Oprah doesn't do anything small. So the thought of the 'old' Rosie seems like something that could be great-- seeing as she had the most successful talk show in recent daytime history. I for one am hoping that Rosie has a fun show with lots of celebrities like the old show. Sounds like that is what oprah wants to so I hope Rosie listens as this is likely her last chance.
I won'r watch anything she's on. End of topic.
I will not be watching anything with the moose Rosie. Can't stand her.
You've hit the nail directly on the head, with a large accurate hammer. I nearly stopped watching the View when she was on, and I wouldn't waste my time tuning in to that obnoxious shrew.
Why would Oprah put someone like Rosie on her new network if she wants it to work. Rosie isn't going to follow the lead of anyone even if that anyone is the boss. Let Rosie get her on network then she can do and say whatver she wants. As long as she's on someone elses network, the network calls the shots, or in this case OPRAH WINFRY does. Bye, Bye Rosie...lots of luck getting your own network where somebody will watch your show just to hear your nagative opinions and listen to your hate speeches.
So, why doesn't Rosie just get a gig on MSNBC? She'd be right at home there.
You are out of your mind but I want Oprah, no matter how rich she is, I want somebody (Rosie) to get into her face and tell to piss-off.
I want Rosie to be the thorn on the side of Oprah daily.
I want her money spend recklessly and wastefully by Rosie.
why does someone call a woman a a "loud mouthed, offensive, agenda driven"but yet they probably listen to rush limbaugh.....oh,but he isn't a loud mouthed, offensive, agenda driven"a-hole.....you can't be your best when you are working with people you don't know...and their agenda...She should be able to work with the ones she knows best...anyhow..the article should be taken lightly...rosie and Oprah have always been friends.....
Yes, Rosie is always controversial. And I am sure that Oprah counted on this when she hired her. If she wanted somebody like (are you kidding?) Condoleeza Rice, she would have chosen them.
Part of Rosie, no matter what show she was on was her liberal views. She always said exactly it exactly like she felt it.
If you do not like Rosie, do not listen. Pick another show!
By the way, are you a conservative and is that why this rankles you. Watch Fox.
I totally agree. If Ophra reads these blogs, she needs to forget Rosie - she is a total wacko - and looser. I would not watch this show!
There's only one honorable way to settle this - a sumo wrestling match between Oprah and Rosie. Kirstie Alley will be the referee.
I agree - couldnt ever figure why Oprah ever even thought of getting near this person... she is a mess and no one that I would watch
Look.. Here's the deal. This is a last ditch effort to drum up some interest in what is seen as a 'charitable venture' by Oprah. Don't kid yourselves. Rosie and Oprah are 'soul' mates. When Rosie was the queen of the airwaves, she pushed and supported each venture by her friend Oprah. This (Rosie show) is Oprah's effort to pay her back. Unfortunately, no one is interested. As for the 'headline'? In the world of 'show biz' ANY publicity is good publicity.
If ginning up some phony feud between the former and current queen of TV.., draws in some advertisers and stirs up some 'buzz' for Rosies show and Oprah's network... they will both mumble (suckers!) under their breath.. and laugh all the way to the bank.
AMEN!!!!!!
Rosie has a right to her opinions but don't let her go overboard!!!!
You go to Oprah for inspiration??? lol Thats a joke, the only thing I'm inspired to do is shut off the Television. This has been is such a phony, just look at the phonys she has created by having them on her shows as regulars. Dr. Phil, turned out to be the biggest one of them all and she had him on giving advice to people that really needed professional help. She hurt a lot of people that way. She also caused a lot of school girls to be raped in her African schools. Oh yeah....she inspires me too. lol
I'm not sure what my politics (which, by the way, you have no clue about...and those of you who guessed just happen to have guessed wrong) have to do with my criticism of Rosie O'Donnell. If you can't refute my premise directly and intelligently, please don't waste my time by trying to mount flaccid personal attacks on me for what you erroneously PRESUME to be my beliefs. I chose my suggestions for more appealing talk show hosts based on who I thought would be able to hold an intelligent conversation without all the infantile drama that Rosie - and all the "ladies" (gag me) of The View - bring to the table. I'm for civil discourse based on well considered and thoughtful positions, not knee jerk name calling in the face of opposing ideas. Which, by the way, is the low road several of you took.
Oprah - Kick that big fat witch to the curb! No one likes Rosie unless they are a loser too. She is pure evil. Her poor kids.

which big, fat witch are you talking about? in this conversation, you are going to have to be more specific!
Why can't you criticize someone's behavior without mentioning her appearance or weight? A lot of good-looking, in-shape celebrities are also obnoxious and, unlike Oprah and Rosie, also break the law. Lohan and Sheen spring to mind immediately. If you don't like Oprah or Rosie, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Pointing out appearance or weight says a lot more about you than it does about them.
