Perhaps because she was told "No" so often early in her own career, Jennifer Lopez has struggled with that part of her job all season long. But no "No" had such an impact on her as when fan-favorite Chris Medina was cut just short of the 'American Idol' Top 24.His story of standing by his severely disabled fiancee touched America's heart, and his heartfelt performances touched the judges week after week. But it ultimately wasn't enough in the final moments, as the judges were faced with so many great competitors.
After letting him down, Lopez collapsed into tears, unable to continue. She seemed to be taking the cut worse than Medina. Watch the video after the jump.

Chris Medina is a real stand up guy and has stuck by his now wheel chair bound girl friend through a near fatal car crash. She's got a long road of recovery if she ever does recover from her both physical and brain injuries. So it's understandable that he would be the sentimental favorite and it would be heart breaking to have to cut him.

Does anyone beieve this was REAL.. She is such a fake.. I still would like to know what made her a great singer ? She appears to have an issue with Steven Tyler being a legend..

What? Those tears were real, she deffinately felt pain and REAL feelings. And there seems to be no problem whatsoever between JLO and Steven Tyler. Its a great group and they get a long wonderfully. They have never given any signs of not getting along. How do you get that??
I wouldn't want to be in their positions...so much good talent and so few slots...of course, Jennifer Lopez is genuine..
The kid wasn't all that. She got too caught up in his back story. The show is not about who has the most heart wrenching back story. They made the right choice...hopefully they'll send a few others home who have lasted far too long.
Agreed. Steven Tyler got all the attention with his sincere feelings so Jennifer had to turn on the tears this time.
I think they made a mistake sending him home. She was under pressure to keep the producers happy. I truely believe she was upset about it.

Boy that show is getting under my skin. Cowell and Paula were a lot better the JLO and Steve. They just can't seem to get their acts together !!

They cant get their acts together? The work great together. What the heck are you watching? Its a fantastic trio. And if you people are so over it and wish it would go away, stop watching it. Tune in somewhere else. There are people who very much enjoy the show, enoy watching the talent get better and better, watching the singers grow right before our very eyes. We enjoy it. We love the show. And for the record there has not been one instance that they have argued, acted inpatient with eachother. THey are respectful to one another, playful and work quite well together.
Where are you???? The two new judges have resurected AI. Jennifer is not only gorgeous, and a talented actress, but a knowlegable musical producer with humanistic qualities that make her perfect as a judge. By the way, Randy was definitely worth keeping. Dissatisfied viewers should change to "Dancing with the Stars."
jlo, save the drama for your mama.

Drama Queen! Who's she kidding? All she wants is more camera time. and she seems to have taken over the show while Randy and Steven let her.

I wish multi-media would quit taking viewers as being such fools. The show is boring and it took Jennifer three takes to get out one tear. Even as an actress that was hard to do. She's obviously jealous of the younger, prettier contestants and to me is not qualified to judge the nations plethoria of talent. Jay-Lo is such a fake it's not even funny.

Oh my Lord, this is nuts. That was a very heartfelt moment, and it was truly honest. Shame on your judgements of 3 wonderful judges that are doing there best. There always has to an angle? Is that what you are saying? Give me a break, there are people out there that enjoy the show, the judges and all that it does. Its not about the judges, its about the talent and AMERICAS vote. My Lord, there is always something negative with people it never ends.
Why are people so cynical? I'm not the world's biggest J Lo fan, but I don't think people should judge whether or not she had real emotions until they have been in her shoes and did what she did. I think it would be emotional to send him home because his story was so touching.
I personally like this season the best so far. I like the new judges.

MIC you AND JODI are both so right on!!!!
There's too many conflicting opinions on her personality, is she a Fake or is she really genuine with her emotions? That being said, everything she says is taken with a grain of salt because nobody really knows the "real her".

Please God make this show go away! Amen.

I started out as the biggest anti-J.Lo fan on the planet but have warmed up to her considerably! Genuine? Yes. "AI" made a BIG mistake sending Chris home! This season (surprisingly) turned out to do just fine without Simon and Paula!
