Perhaps because she was told "No" so often early in her own career, Jennifer Lopez has struggled with that part of her job all season long. But no "No" had such an impact on her as when fan-favorite Chris Medina was cut just short of the 'American Idol' Top 24.His story of standing by his severely disabled fiancee touched America's heart, and his heartfelt performances touched the judges week after week. But it ultimately wasn't enough in the final moments, as the judges were faced with so many great competitors.
After letting him down, Lopez collapsed into tears, unable to continue. She seemed to be taking the cut worse than Medina. Watch the video after the jump.

My sentiments exactly!
I thought Jennifer's reaction was sincere, but don't understand why he was sent home???? Chris was one of the most talented on the show! Who really judges the show- Steven, Jennifer, and Randy, or the producers? Why did the show do the HUGE story on him, only to let Chris go? And while I'm on this rant, someone PLEASE tell me why the dark haired beauty with the special needs daughter was let go and for WHAT reason? Because of her ONE mediocre session?? The judges had given others another chance based on their other performances and because they knew they were capable of doing much better. I was so disheartened to see these two talented people go, and it had not one reason to do with their personal strife.
Adding Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez gave American Idol the boost it so desperately needed. I am tickled with Steven sparkle. Jennifer is showing dominance and it appears the diva is evolving, so WATCH OUT! I Steven and Randy don't take a back seat to her divaness. Jennifer be humble, and remember the show isn't about you. Lord help us all!

I beleive the tears were genuine and came from the heart. This team has a great rapor. Where the heck were you when last years judges were at each other throats. By the way Mark gets paid for his GREAT voice not his rat face. JLo does not have to do anything she is as at the top of her game right now. You? I guess it takes a rat face to know a rat face and its better to be a rich rat face tan an ignorant one. Thumbs up mic & jodi. I LOVE YOU JLO & MARK

Jennifer Lopez is the reason, I have chosen not to watch American Idol this year. Now it is very clear that I made the right decision. I doubt she cares about anyone but herself.

Jennifer Lopez is a woman with a sensitive, empathetic heart for others. We don't see enough of this kind of basic goodness.

ego's?! Go back to school,loser
I hate that Chris was let go !!! That being said...his songs were not as good as his first audition... so I guess I have to agree with the judges.
I hope he tries again another year.

I'm not so sure Jennifer's tears were real. It seems a little odd that after reading she was upset that Tyler stole the show, that she now gets dramatically emotional over a contestant. As to the contestant- he was good but not great. The personal lives of the contestants should not be known until the final 10 - The show is about talent, not hard luck stories, we all have our's. they made the right choice getting rid of him. There were a lot better.

If she wanted him in the 24 that bad he would have been in there, all for the drama people, all for the drama, at the expense of Chris Medina, that is wrong, but it happens every year!

I watch American Idol in HD with my DISH Network sponsored employee account. I have TVeverywhere, but this is one instance I wished I wouldn't have tuned into. I adored Chris's chivalry, and heart. I wish him continued success at all he does, and I will always be a Chris Medina Fan!
