Someone Needs to Save Charlie Sheen's Kids

Pop-Ed: As Charlie Sheen continues to dive headfirst off of the deep end and his estranged wife Brooke Mueller stands party to it, the natural question is, why haven't Charlie and Brooke's children nearly two year old twins Bob and Max been put in the care of a competent adult.

Last February, the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services opened an investigation of Sheen's family at the urging of their Colorado counterpart following Sheen's Christmas day attack on Mueller with a knife.

But we haven't heard a peep from them since.

When PopEater placed a call to DCFS we were told they cannot disclose whether anyone's case is ongoing, whether they're famous or not, but they did tell us they respond to calls alleging abuse of a child.

Asked whether they will launch an investigation if the father is a known drug abuser who wants prostitutes to babysit his kids and the mother has moved back into his home and is jetting off to the Bahamas with the father and a gaggle of porn stars, DCFS replied that they typically launch investigations only if a call reporting direct abuse of children is made to their hotline.

Sheen has other minor children Sam and Lola, who are safely with their mother Denise Richards, who is doing all she can to shield them from their father's absurd breakdown.

But what of Charlie and Brooke's kids? Mueller is hardly the poster woman for stability. She recently checked out of her second rehab facility and is reportedly being treated at home by sober coaches, much as Sheen has alleged he is doing.

If DCFS doesn't have an investigation of this family in process, can someone please call their hotline and ask for one? These people should not be raising toddlers.

Watching celebrities self destruct is our modern day version of watching lions devour Christians in the Roman Coliseum. It's entertainment. But when there are children involved, it becomes tragic and someone has to intervene.

Why does DCFS need a phone call to their hotline? Isn't it enough to have it in hot headlines? Martin, you turned Charlie in before to save his life, now turn him in to save his kids.

I don't know that Martin needs to turn Charlie in, but he should definitely turn Charlie over his knee! Maybe Dad's firm hand could knock some sense back into him.

Martin Sheen cannot do anything about Charlie he is a 44yr old man way beyond Daddy punishing him. Saying Martin should step in is doing the very same thing Charlie is doing blaming everyone else for his problem. My heart goes out to his Dad and Mom and his kids they must be heartbroken, they have tried many many times to get him help, he is a lost cause. We are all witnessing the self destruction of a life he will be dead soon and it iis very very sad.

MY GOD CAN'T ANYONE GET THESE KIDS AWAY FROM THEM???? I MEAN HONESTLY, THEY ARE ENABLERS FOR EACH OTHER! I DON'T BELIEVE FOR A MINUTE ABOUT THE SOBER PEOPLE THEY HAVE WITH THEM! I DON'T THINK ANY OF THEM ARE. I WOULD THINK CHILD PROTECTION WOULD STEP IN OR MARTIN SHEEN AND HIS WIFE SHOULD.

I feel for those boys and it seems, the grandparents, don't seem to care.

My adopted daughter was born into a similar situation. It took three separate calls from concerned neighbours and health care professionals before DCFS went out to the home and by then she already had serious injuries at only one month of age. Every time we touched her she would shake like a leaf, she was so scared. I can't imagine the horror she endured while her parents partied it up.
It takes even longer for intervention in the case of the very rich.
There is also a strong suspicion on my part that those boys have been prenatally affected by drugs and alcohol. REmember how they were in the hospital for quite a while after being born and Charlie was vague about it? He was in as much denial then as he is now. I pray that there are nannies and extended family who are keeping a very close eye on the boys because they are innocent children who need protection. My daughter has permanent injuries from DCFS waiting to intervene - I hope it won't get that far with these boys.

This is very sad. Maybe Denise can step in and get temporary custody of the boys since they are her family via their daughters.

I think that would be that she would most def be able to show those boys what they need and will also be able to be with their sisters.

They are children in much worse environment than Charlie Sheens that you never hear about or care about,why is that? I think every child has issues in their life but for some reason they survive,some excel and some do not,that is true with normal families with no exposure to any of Charlies habits and behavior! I think Charlie has lost touch or never was in touch with everyday life and the fact that some of us have accepted the fact that we all grow old and in the end we do not appear as we were,and neither do our mates! For some reason or the other my parents have never changed but in all reality to others they have changed a lot,it's all about growing old and someday
Charlie will at least GROW-UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let' see...Daddy is dealing, buying and using, spenidng thousands of dollars on illegal drugs...Plus, he is an alcoholic, too...Then there is the constant flow of prostitutes going in and out the front door...Plus, he has physically abused his wives, even threathen one last wife with a knife...Plus his past history is with cutting a deal with the feds about his drug dealing and prostitutes he paid for by checks to Heidi Fleiss...And according to you this is not a worst enviroment" for these children...Why is that, it is because they don't live in the "ghetto" or a poor minority neighborhood...Will all of his criminal acts be worse if he didn't have all that money and the expensive homes.

Well while I don't agree with his behavior I do understand the DCFS answer to the inquiry. If popeater's editors are worried enough to write this then why don't you guys make the call. You obviously have their number.

I suspect nannies are raising the twins. They are never really seen in public and neither Charlie nor his ex-wife seem to talk about them. Perhaps it would be better if family members could obtain custody of the boys, but its surprisingly difficult even with such public evidence of irresposible behaviour.

If it were any of us working people, cps would have already took us in to talk to us, then our kids seperately.
Then probably, took the kids away while they investigated.
But since its a hollywood figure, nothing is being done.

People can be so cruel. Star or not, take care of your family, a man is the strenght,the protector, the one who gives wholeness to his children and wife. A woman is the nuturing of husband and children. Breaking up the family unite isn't the answer. The answer is Charlie taking care of his family. Kids are young enough you can erase this error in your life and make it whole. I wish you and your family the best Mr.Sheen. Keeping you in my prayers.
