Friends: CBS Can Beg, Charlie Is 'Never' Coming Back

CBS and Warner Bros. finally tranquilized the elephant in the room Thursday, saying in a statement that "based on the totality of
Charlie Sheen's statement, conduct and condition" they were
shutting down production of 'Two and a Half Men,' TV's top comedy, for the remainder of the season. But if the goal is to one day welcome Charlie back to the top-rated show, sources close to the erratic actor tell me he wouldn't return to the set even if they begged.
"Charlie is furious that they have done this," a close friend of the actor tells me. "He has never been late for work, and what he does and says in his private life is none of [CBS's] business. He feels like they have made billions off him, and now they dare to pull his show just because they didn't like an interview he did."
I'm not defending Charlie, but it does seem bizarre that CBS was happy to turn a blind eye when their biggest actor was scaring porn stars and inhaling booze and drugs, but now that he has very publicly dissed his show's creator, Chuck Lorre ("a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk"), production has been halted.
What's Next? PopEater and RadarOnline.com Talk It Through:
Charlie's most incendiary comments were made to TMZ when, talking about Lorre, he said, "That piece of s**t took money out of my pocket, my family's pocket, and, most importantly, my second family -- my crew's pocket. You can tell him one thing: I own him."
And with that, it seems Charlie has decided it's time to move on for good.
"At this moment he would never return to that show even if they begged him," another Charlie insider tells me. "He's given these fools the number one comedy on TV, and their feelings get hurt over a stupid radio interview. Nothing would get him back on that set. It's over. Done."
Well, he does have a little thing called a
contract, so we'll see about that. In the meantime, Charlie is already claiming that he's
taking his talents to HBO for an "epic" show called 'Sheen's Corner.' Not surprisingly, a rep from HBO tells
PopEater that there is
"no truth to this."
Sheen's buddy also tells me that the actor will start "making movies with superstars" again. 'Major League 3'!!!
On Tuesday, I
exclusively reported that
CBS finally had enough of Charlie and were having internal discussions about carrying on 'Two and a Half Men' without its biggest star.
"The big question is can the show survive without Charlie," an insider with direct knowledge of the talks told me. "Would the show take a big hit? Yes, but if they found the right person to replace him it would survive and maybe even grow."
What do you think? Would you watch 'Men' with a Charlie replacement? Should CBS just cut their losses and call it a day?

The producers of hit TV series "Two and a Half Men" canceled the show for the season Thursday, February 24, 2011 after a new outburst by troubled actor Sheen -- who promptly launched another tirade. CBS and Warner Brothers made the announcement after Sheen, who was briefly hospitalized last month following his latest reported booze and drugs-fueled partying mishap, denounced the show's co-creator Chuck Lorre. He is done in Hollywood. Who would hire this guy? Would you like to deal with him and his problems? Cant make a movie and hope it will be done on time with him in the cast.
bye...bye Charlie............Jerk
It's not like the show is called "Charlie". Why does he think he is the biggest and best part of the show? All the costars, Jon (Alan), Angus (Jake), Holland (Evelyn/Mom), Conchatta (Berta), Melanie (Rose), etc... are just as good and as Charlie. Most of the time I think ALL of them are BETTER. It would be odd witout him, but if they wrote him off in a clever way, the show could still work. Just don't kill the show and other people's careers because of one idoit's mistakes. It is not fair to them. With the right writing, it could be great. There are millions of possibilites on how to introduce a whole "what happened to Charlie" subplot throughout any new episodes/seasons.

You're so right JP. We never watched the show for Sheen. It was the other characters who were more enjoyable. Then the writing got so bad, and Sheen got worse. It was like he was phoning his role in. It would be so easy to revamp that show and give it new life...life without Charlie. Fresh air anyone?
hey i agree let charlie go let him be in a car accident and let alan have the house and continue with the show hey they are the show
I would love to see Rose pregnant with Charlie's baby. Then Alan marry her even after she explains that her and Charlie were secretly married. Don't explain why Charlie - just show his back walking down the beach or jumping off his deck. Or if you need to explain then Charlie went into rehab after dreaming that he saw his mother having kinky sex with with Rose's husband. The scenarios are endless. Sometime down the line, possibly Charlie would return an from there it's a whole new show again.
I so agree. Alan in my opinion carry's the show. He is such a talented actor and the show could continue. Make Charlie go on vacation or something. The guy who plays Judith's husband, the doctor should have a bitter role...it can work and be as good or even better.
I definitely agree with you the other actors make the show. Charlie is not acting his just playing himself! My teenage daughter thinks he is disgusting and is pretty much sick of the same script written for him, anyway!!!
JP You expressed all of my own thoughts so well that I don't need to!
I would watch the show without Charlie (I do feel badly about his real life problems though)...
All of the others actors are the MAIN REASON I've continued to watch the show because Charlie's character is constantly doing his own re-run of the same actions, over and over. The real life character and tv character are too too similar! It is a little disconcerting.
I do hope execs don't do away with the program because frankly it is THE ONLY CBS program I do watch.
The other actors CAN CARRY THE SHOW ALONE ~ EASILY
I totally agree. The others are all great and it would be easy to do something to the "Charlie" character. It's been done before on All IN The Family, when they had Edith die when she went on to other acting. And Gloria and the meathead moved to California. A different Charlie probably wouldn't work.
To answer the question, yes, I would still watch the show with Charlie. The show has a lot of fine actors who are incredibly funny, it doesn't live and die with Charlie. Please, keep it on the air, just have him die in an alcohol induced car accident, so we can teach a lesson at the same time.

Sheen has lots of problems apparently, not simply addictions. Unfortunately, unlike his father, he's the most generic of actors and that role could have been played as well, if not better, by half a dozen actors that I can think of offhand.
As for the show, it can survive and maybe even flourish without him. Writing out the character in a way that would be believeable for the character is the way to go. Provide some consequences for the "playboy" brother's actions. In real life, people die, get arrested, and move far away without very much warning. A little "reality" could only help this show. God only knows, it could help Sheen....
Thank you! That is the perfect idea as it will permanently end Charlie Shhen's relationship with the show and provide a well deserved lesson to everyone. You are 100% correct! Great! I hope Chuck Lorre will do this.
I don't watch the show for Charley,I watch for the other cast members

here's my average weekly scorecard: laughs generated by writers, 2; laughs provided by ALL the talented cast, 7+...personally I think the whole scene is sad. Why isn't anybody interviewing Mr. Keach, who self destructed decades ago to all who knew him's sadness? And, by the way, CS will never demonstrate the talent Stacey did, IMHO.

How about Gary Busey to play Charlie?

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA you are sick. hahaha
Gary Busey!!!! what the hell are you drinking!!!! Let's have Judd Nelson play the half brother no one knew about. The possibilities are endless. The rest of the cast are so funny in their own right but together they are fantastic. Charlie's charactor always repulsed me but the other cast members are so funny, they carried the show.
Gary Busey! That's the First good suggestion posted!
who cares if he doesn't return? the guy is not that great and he looks awful. i would prefer to watch the show without him. he is so full of himself and without reason.
