Dior designer John Galliano was briefly arrested Thursday night in Paris after hurling insulting remarks at a couple, according to Reuters.

The British designer, 50, was out drinking at a trendy Parisian bar when the altercation occured. According to the Huffington Post, Galliano was taken into custody for alleged assault and for making anti-Semitic remarks. The incident occured in the Marais district, the historic center of Paris' Jewish community.

He was taken to a Paris police station for a sobriety test where he tested over the legal limit.
