Duff McKagan: Guns N' Roses Reunion Was a Mistake

Regrets, Duff McKagan's had a few. Now he admits that last year's onstage reunion with Axl Rose is definitely one of them.
"I almost wish the getting on stage part hadn't happened," the Velvet Revolver musician told
Rock News Desk, saying that the live impromptu London jam between the Guns N' Roses co-founders was a mistake because it has refueled fans' hopes for a regrouping of the group's classic lineup.
On a personal level, McKagan said he's happy he ran into Rose when they wound up having hotel suites next to each other. "We were meant to connect again," he said of the chance meeting. "It was a private matter, but I'm glad it happened."
As for rejoining Rose and his current incarnation of Guns N' Roses for a rendition of 'You Could Be Mine,' McKagan blames his iffy judgment on a mixture of jetlag and energy drinks and remembers little about his car ride to the O2 Arena last October.
"It was like, 'I should be in bed right now. I've got a meeting in the morning. What am I doing here?'" Duff explained. "Then all of a sudden there's a bass in my hands."
Since that surprise appearance, McKagan says he and other former members have been inundated with inquiries about a reteaming of all the founding members, but McKagan insists it would never happen.

All I remember about G N'R was the drummer when he got kicked to the curb for being a coke head. He was a member of G N' R and that destroyed them really. No, no help for him, he just got cut by Axl who became this big Nazi thinking he was the only real talent. G N' R would've been successful if Axl was booted! His voiced is irritating!

Plus, he moves on stage like Davey Jones of the Monkees.
When they started making those weak sympathy songs like 'November Rain' is when fans realized they were a P. band.
Nope. Get your facts right, Adler was a heroin junkie who literally could no longer do his job; he was cut by the band and it was Slash (his oldest friend) who did the deed. When Adler later OD'd, Axl was the only one who went to see him. Its all in Adler's book. Axl never thought he was the only talent and constantly gave credit to his bandmates for their hard work. Axl brought in Duff, Slash and Steven, so without him there IS no GnR. Keep drinking that Kool-Aid!
They would have been successful???
They are a top selling artist of all time haha

You must be real young or not really into those rock days as GnR was hugely successful and world known and still are even though they are not together. Looks like the correct info was given by NYJ. I don't think it was a mistake for Duff to play as original fans know it will never happene due to Axl's issues and instability. It has been attempted many times to make it happen but Slash will never be on a stage with Axl its just a toxic situation but fans can day dream.
ewww, nasty lookin dude.

Another band that got a LOT of mileage out of one album, similar to Motley Crue IMO although Slash is 10x the guitarist then Mick Mars.
There are very, very few bands that have held up over time fairly well intact producing new music while still filling arenas and stadiums. Aerosmith, U2, AC DC, The Rolling Stones.

I can't even begin to talk about Slash, he went off and played with Michael Jackson. I heard his new stuff the other day and I mean "other day"! Crap-cake! Those really older guys follow GN'R but yes it was just one album clone of Sex Pistols. I can't remember how many people said Slash is about butt-ugly! All Axel really wowed with was singing "Ja-na-na-na-na-na knees knees" They were a band that struggled to the end!
