Cate Blanchett Makes Odd Oscar Red Carpet Choice

Cate Blanchett's Givenchy dress is making a splash at the Oscars.

The actress walked the red carpet in a violet frock that has a lot of people talking.

Blanchett wasn't the only one who chose to don light purple on Hollywood's biggest night. Mila Kunis also picked the color.

The round space makes me think of a stage...I am waiting for the curtains to open and see a dozen muppets dancing and singing. Odd.

A total mess is more like it. The belt/sash would have been enough to set it off. The circle cut-out is bizarre and not at all flattering. Adding the yellow makes it look like a Faberge egg...with her breasts as the 'scene'. Solid D.

Her dress looked old Golden Days Hollywood. Beautiful embroidery work. The gold at the top would have looked better in silver or another color. It is a beautiful dress.

From the waist down, looks beautiful, but the top,,,, horrible.
The yellow I dont know what she was thinking, the plate shaped thing on her chest, terrible. The sleeves are odd looking, but if the yellow and the plate thing was gone, it would have been beautiful all together.

This dress is definately one that I was on the fence; the yellow beads and the 'sleeves' are strange. What I do like is that it's different, to me the cut-out looks like a pretty clam shell with pearls spilling out, very water ethereal and like a coral reef but in a good way.
