Anne Hathaway and James Franco reminded audiences why they're crowd favorites with their hilarious intro monologue at the Oscars.

The pair not only charmed audiences with their undeniable chemistry, but seemed both genuinely happy and grateful to have the opportunity to host, with Franco snapping photos of the crowd on his phone.
Both actors not only showed off their acting skills, but their family members, to the audience.
Franco, whose mother and grandmother have been active on Twitter in the weeks leading up to the Oscars, introduced his grandma to the crowd, who joked, "I just saw Marky Mark!"

They didn't "charm the audience". They did a lot of inane yelling. NOT interesting !

Anne tried too hard and came off kind of silly. Franco could have phoned in his job...what's all the fuss over this guy?
They were adorable. Anne was the only reason I watched the ego-maniacal Oscars. The entire premise of that is so... off putting. Celebrities award other celebrities with ugly little golden naked men. Makes no sense. But she was precious. And it really has been a good year for lesbians. Not just in general, but in movies. xD!

Say that they're charming as much as you want, but you won't convince us of something we did not see. Their jokes are cheesy and tired. See? The young can be just as worn-out and corny as the middle-aged and elderly.

i think they are doing an awesome job. considering everybody watching, they are bringing the fun part of the oscars back for the younger generation to enjoy. their jokes might be somewhat cheesy, but they are funny. keep up good work! just my opinion though. =]

Franco and Hathaway are wonderfully funny, entertaining & charming! Enjoying them... They were a great idea together!

I too thought they were very entertaining! Hope they are asked back next year! I only watched the Oscars because they were going to host, otherwise I would have just grabbed the news of who won the next day in the papers...All that ego floating around from the audience gets to be too much for me.
the worst and most boring Oscars EVER!!!!

I think they're terrible!! And Anne's hooting and hollering everytime she introduces someone is forcing me to mute half the time. Enough already!! And how many dresses does she need to wear tonight?

He was awful. And she was totally a fake.

Sarah Crow, you are a shill for the entertainment industry. Nice try putting lipstick on this pig of a show. It will have record low ratings. Let's see how you write the article about that.
It is all over the blogs...women that love this show turned it off and changed the channel and yet you hype away...

This was the most boring Oscar show in recent memory. Was Franco stoned the whole time?

Franco was horrid...hathaway was tolorable. Bring back Billy!!!!

I agree that Franco looked (and acted) stoned, and initially that turned me off, but I think they did a fine job all in all. I'm in my 50's so I'm not just voting young. PS I loved Steven Martin and Alec Baldwin together last year, but there was absolutely no talk that I heard about them doing it again, so I guess I was alone.

I liked the way they both mocking one another, dried humor and it is thrill, especial the moment of James wearing pink dress, hahahahs so so funny

I thought James Franco and Anne Hathaway were great!! What incredible chemistry they have. I don't think they're an official couple but they ought to be. As for the formatting of the show, I thought it was new and refreshing. The set was beautiful. The pace was almost perfect until Kirk Douglas. It was painful to listen to him. I can appreciate his attempt and what he's been through but it was poor judgment to put him on stage for such a high profiled award, Best Supporting Actress. The show's ending was great. I loved that all the winners came out on stage. So lots of new things this year. How refreshing...Bravo for successfully delivering an edgy new look to an old golden boy.

i agree
Anne was awesome, so at ease. James was ok, but seemed distant?

Love them both! Fresh and different. James is just being him, not stealing the show from a woman Ann. Bring them back. They did not attempt to steal the main substance of the show. Too long for minor awards.
