Melissa Leo Quickly Apologizes for Her Oscars F-Bomb

Melissa Leo certainly had the winning speech of the night, but maybe for the wrong reasons. One moment, the Best Supporting Actress winner was speechless, the next she had censors working overtime when she let an F-bomb fly during her speech.

"I'm just shaking in my boots here," 'The Fighter' star said. "Yeah, I am kind of speechless. When I watched Kate [Winslet] two years ago it looked so much f**king easier."

Backstage, Leo was quick to apologize for her obscenity. "I had no idea. This word ... I apologize to anyone that they offended. There's a great deal of the English language that is in my vernacular. I really don't mean to offend, and it's probably a very inappropriate place to use that particular word."

Leo also had some thoughts on Kirk Douglas, who presented Leo her Oscar after plenty of procrastinating. "He's really funny. He's an old actor. He was actually doing us all this huge favor. The longer he strung it out, the calmer I got to be. I got to take more than once glance at Amy [Adams], who was just a few rows from me."

Really? In this day in age we're still so uptight about a damn word? She didn't drop a racial slur like some of her Hollywood counterparts (Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, Paris Hilton). She didn't say "F you". She was effing ecstatic. I say good for her! You know what I find 1000 times more offensive than the f bomb? Crappy reality shows giving good-for-nothings like the Kardashians fame and fortune (more than they've already inherited). That's the true downfall of society.

So calm the f*ck down!!!

It's not a case of the country being uptight about a word, dearie. It's a case of someone forgetting polite behavior, on a grand scale. And as for it being a "flub", her acting abilities weren't able to make that seem plausible.

It wasn't so much her ugly mouth, though this trailer trash would have said the same thing if in the presence of the queen...It was her actions leaving the stage when she took Kirk Douglas's cane from from him and mimicked an old man...lucky he didn't fall down....If there still exists a "Black List" in hollywood, I hope she's on it!!!!!

Acting is all about scripts and being prepared. This woman acted like an idiot, not just her potty mouth but her entire demeanor. She knew she was nominated and not to be prepared makes me wonder if she is really worthy of the award. The Oscar is probably the highest award that actors can receive. You would think they would be a little more serious about presenting themselves in a professional manner when they accept it. If they cannot be prepared and receive it with some dignity, then they should not attend the event.

MY GOSH if al gore can win the award anyone can. the oscar has lost its luster just like the nobel prizes. look at the losers that have won both and have done absolutely nothing to deserve them other than being liberal or socialist.
