Colin Firth earned his first Academy Award Sunday night, snagging the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in 'The King's Speech.'"I have a feeling my career's just peaked," Firth said as he accepted his award from Sandra Bullock. Firth appeared emotional but mostly composed, calling his fellow nominees both "extraordinary" and "formidable."
Throughout the 2011 awards season, Firth's performance earned him a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and recognition from the Screen Actors Guild and a bevy of critics circles. The English actor received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star in January. Firth, 50, was nominated last year for 'A Single Man.' Watch Colin Firth's Oscar acceptance speech after the jump.

...they are called "The People's Choice Awards" and with your spelling and grammar it seems to me that you would have liked to see something like "Big Momma's House" or "Grown Ups" to win...THAT is why "the people" shouldn't choose them!
The right film won! The King's Speech was brilliantly written, adapted and acted. Geoffrey Rush should have won Best Supporting Actor but they got it right with Colin Firth, my Mr. Darcy. What a delight he is. Of course, many of the people responding won't agree because the average movie-goer, will not have seen the King's Speech and won't get it if they do. What a wonder piece of film-making it was. The Social Network was the most boring film ever made and I mean ever. It has no right being nominated for an Academy Award.
