Sandra and Scarlett Keep Their Distance at the Oscars

The rift between once-good friends Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson still appears to be going strong, with both ladies avoiding each other like the plague at the Academy Awards on Sunday.

"It seemed like both of their arrivals were carefully staged to make sure they were never on the red carpet together," an insider tells me. "They both knew the other was presenting so it was no surprise that they would be at the same event, but they sure managed to keep away from one another."

Scarlett showed up at the Oscars with her agent, Joe Machota, by her side, while Sandra, wearing blazing red, looked happy working the carpet all by herself.

Any tension between the two ladies comes from the fact that since Scarlett and her husband Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce in December, Sandra has been seen multiple times with the actor. They insist they're just friends, and Ryan and Scarlett were even seen having lunch together in late January, fueling rumors they were getting back together.

"So much has happened to Sandra in the past 12 months since she won an Oscar that I'm sure she wanted a drama-free night on Sunday," a friend of the actress tells me.

As last year's winner for best actress, Sandra was obliged to present an award on Sunday. "Whether or not Scarlett would be attending had nothing to do with her decision to attend, and what she does in her private life with a man that is getting divorced is entirely up to her."

Although, people who know Sandy best suspect the only man she's thinking about right now is her little son, Louis.

Hey, Scarlett decided Ryan wasn't good enough way before he started hanging out with Sandra, so now she's hanging out with a VERY AGED Sean Penn...no tears for that bimbo diva, PLEASE! She was only miffed because Sandy is 10 times more talented and successful than she is AND Ms.J's estranged hubby found someone wonderful before she did (IF, that haggard looking Sean Penn could be considered wonderful who cheated on HIS beautiful wife, Robin Wright for years). Think Sean & Scarlett will make a great couple; they are both OVER RATED, self-absorbed, humorless, and have overblown egos. Oh..and kudos to Sandra for NOT opting for the FAKE TAN that you seem so impressed by...Gheez! (Like "Derek" said, When Scarlett turns 40, I doubt she'll be able to hold a candle to Sandra's 40...it's easy to look great when your 24 but let's see how she holds up in another 15 years!).

I can understand why Scarlett would be mad if her friend was getting with her ex. Thats just a general rule of friendship, Exs are off limits.

That said, if they really are only friends then thats perfectly fine because a break-up shouldn't make you choose sides either.

Meh. It doesn't matter whether Scarlett or Sandra is "better" than the other. This story is just plain false. Sandra and Scarlett were seen hugging each other hello on the red carpet. They are still good friends despite the divorce. So whoever this "insider" is, someone should introduce them to Scarlett and Sandra so they can get their facts correct.

Scarlett Johansson should grow up a learn to accept that she was in the process of divorcing her husband who turned to his friend Sandra Bullock who went through a much worse situation with her ex moron husband to be consoled. They made friends making their movie and remained so, and Sandra is adult and smart enough to be just that a friend in need. Scarlett did not hesitate to go out after filing for divorce, so the only thing she should be jealous of is the fact that Sandra is more of a woman than she is.

Sandra looked gorgeous, I just wish she would lighten her hair a bit...too dark. Scarlett on the otherhand looked a mess. Her shorter hair is awful and makes her look much older than she is. Scarlett should have stayed with Ryan, she has gone down hill since they broke up.

Scarlett should have showed-up to the Oscars with Jesse James. Sandra got what she deserved: you wanted a "bad boy", and you got a "bad boy".

I think they are both hot. But bad day hair or not, Scarlett is still fine. Sandra is always impeccable.

That said I have no idea what it is to live with either of them. Living with someone you get to see them at their best and worst.
