Gwyneth Paltrow in Talks For Possible Record Deal
Gwyneth Paltrow has remained pretty mum about a possible singing career ... until now. She revealed just before Sunday's Academy Awards that she is currently mulling over a record deal.
"We're talking about it now," she told
Access Hollywood on the red carpet. "So, we'll see."
Gwyneth attended the show to perform her Oscar-nominated song, 'Coming Home,' from the film, 'Country Strong,' which she said was her most nerve-wracking performance so far. "This [performance] feels hard, because the Grammys [were] so much fun and it was silly. This is very serious. I'm like, 'Geez, it's a serious song and I'm by myself up there.' I hope it's all right!"
Gwyneth has given fans a taste of her lovely vocal chops throughout the years, having charted a hit single with Huey Lewis on a remake of 'Cruisin' from the film 'Duets' in 2000. She also happens to be married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, who co-wrote 'Me and Tennessee,' a duet with 'Country Strong' co-star Tim McGraw, which is the new single from the film's soundtrack.
The actress made her awards show
singing debut at the CMAs last November, with a live performance of 'Country Strong,' the first release from the film of the same name.
She also
performed with Cee Lo Green at this year's Grammy Awards on his huge hit, 'Forget You.' The Oscar-winning actress performed the rap star's Record and Song of the Year-nominated tune on 'Glee' in November, and reprises her role as substitue sex-ed teacher Holly Holliday on the March 8 episode of the popular FOX television show. She is set to perform a duet of Prince's classic hit, 'Kiss,' with cast member Matthew Morrison, as well as sing lead on a cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide.'

We don't need your kind!

Very weak voice...nothing special or unique there. Who the heck is gonna buy a whole album of that??

I love her acting, and Cruisin' was great...but I haven't seen anything very good from the movie.

I LOVE Gwyneth Paltrow and think she's an amazing actress. However, her singing at the Oscars bordered on unbearable!

Do you have anything else you want to bore us with....please go home and be a mother to your oddly named child.

GP creates a negative response from audiences (to her surprise).
When an artist grows up privileged like GP with access to major producers (incl. her father), directors and music studio executives, there's an understandable burden to rise to level that warrants this type of privileged networking that so many other VERY VERY talented people do not have.
Her performance at the Oscars does NOT warrant a record deal. In fact, it's infuriating that someone like her is even "in talks" for a record deal. I mean Country Strong FLOPPED. I great appearance on a TV show (GLEE) and poor performances at the Grammy's and the Oscar's does NOT justify a record deal! (Even if Beyonce holds your hand b/f and after a performance).
I do believe she acts well though but it's as though she's feels b/c she has an Oscar, she's "conquered" acting when she really doesn't have a body of work to suggest that.
Also, the constant networking with stars encourages this type of response to her - Brad Pitt for acting opportunities, her father for the movie he directed her in not to mention tons of introductions to other powerful producers, directors, etc. and now Beyonce, Jay-Z and Chris Martin for a record deal.
On top of that, she instructs America on what is the best restaurant to attend around the world and how to dress your children in GOOP AND she tells everyone to work out with Tracey Anderson b/c she has the best body in the world!
She's experiencing backlash and she just can't figure why!

Just because she sounded just ok on Glee (due to voice enhancement equipment) does not a record deal make. She sounded awful on the Oscars, in fact the whole show was lackluster.
