Kate Winslet on Her Chubby Past, Plastic Surgery and Winning an Oscar

The lovely
Kate Winslet graces the April cover of
Glamour Magazine, and in the accompanying interview, the Academy Award-winning actress talks about being heavy as a child, what it was like winning an Oscar and why she'll never talk about the demise of her marriage to Sam Mendes.
"I will tell you that when I was heavy, people would say to me -- and it was such a backhanded comment -- they would say, 'You've got such a beautiful face,' in the way of, like, 'Oh, isn't it a shame that from the neck down you're questionable,' the actress admitted to the magazine.
More excerpts from the interview
after the jump.
On winning an Oscar for 'The Reader':
"I'm really, really proud to have won ... I was the kid who never won the races. I never jumped the highest. I wasn't on the list of the high-achieving. That wasn't me, so winning the Oscar was like winning all the prizes in one single night that I never won as a kid. For me, it was an internal-fist-pumping moment of yes."
On plastic surgery:
"No, I have never tried any of that stuff. ... I don't have parts of my body that I hate or would like to trade for somebody else's or wish I could surgically adjust into some fantasy version of what they are."
On raising kids in the public eye:
"The challenge is making sure that they're never treated different just because I sometimes am. I always want them to be regular kids who are grateful and respectful of other human beings. I want them to know that when we fly first-class, that they are lucky. The highest compliment I could ever receive about my kids -- and I can say that this does happen frequently -- is when the in-flight crew say to me, 'Your children are wonderful. They are so well-behaved.' Every time I am told that, I could weep."
On not talking about her separation from director, Sam Mendes:
"I am nervous about the day that Mia [her daughter] can Google [my name]. That's the reason I am so careful not to talk about the question that people always ask of me: 'So what actually happened between you and Sam?' That explanation will never come out of my mouth. Never."

No, Charlie Sheen isn't 'crazy,' he's 'STUPID' = Insensitive to moral truths." He needs to hit rock bottom before he'll ever have any sense, or learn from his unacceptable behavior. His family are obviously "enablers," by making excuses for his choice to use drugs, over-indulge in alcohol, & making a total fool of himself. There's no way in hell illicit drug use can be likened to a person who has cancer!! Most people who are told they have cancer, do everything they humanly can to live as long as they can. Charlie Sheen is a damn disgrace & obviously a spoil selfish brat, with family members who elect to keep him that way by making excuses for him. There's a time for Love and a time for "Tough Love!"

Just happened to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tonight, and Kate was very good in it. She has a powerful beauty, elegant but strong. Very very sexy.

Eeew. I think Kate Winslet is ugly, especially when she smiles. Her lips form such an ugly shape. Also, quit with the blond hair & the thick black eyebrows. Yuck. Funny how she always defended her past weigh as normal. Now she says she WAS chubby.
