Lindsay Lohan has given her first interview since legal drama derailed her comeback, threatening the star with jail, and compared to Charlie Sheen, whose own media blitz has dominated the headlines, the 'Mean Girls' star comes off as perfectly well-adjusted.
Speaking to Extra for an interview airing Tuesday night, Lohan clear-headedly talks about her teetering career and what she must do to steady it. "I feel great," she said. "As long as I'm focusing on the one thing that I know I need to put forth in my life, which is you know, my recovery and stuff. Then I'm doing good and that's most important for me."
She also knows that it will take time to regain the trust of the film industry after her latest spat with the law. She is in very serious danger of going to jail on felony charges she stole a necklace in January and has until March 10 to decide if she wants to take a plea deal (which will include jail) or go to trial.
[Because her case is pending, Lohan was not able to talk about the specifics of the charges against her.]
"There's gonna be a lot of steps that I have to go through to kind of prove myself again and get the trust from the people that I respect to work with," she said. "But I'm to do what I have to do to get there, because that's my passion."
Lohan hopes that after she has sorted out her legal problems, industry bigwigs will take her back. She told Extra that she won't ponder about who she'd like to work with next until she's even allowed back on a set.
"I think that will be something I'll be able to say when I've taken the steps that I need to take to prove I can be insurable again. I think that will come in time when I'll even be in the position to say that. Because I don't think I am right now."
She adds, "I don't think that would be fair to just say 'Oh, this is who I want to work with!' and expect that to happen. No, I have to build my way back up. I get that."
Who should even care? Like that Charlie Sheen character, they are so overpaid, and brought to near God like status by the mindless multitudes, no wonder they actually believe they are relevant. I for one, do not know what Lohan is supposedly famous for in the first place. Charlie Sheen? Did a great job in Platoon, but I have never seen the 2 1/2 show. America needs to stop the glorification of celebrities, including athletes. They should be happy to have jobs!!
This young woman is a sad case and I think her mother is mostly responsible for the place that Lindsay is in her life today. Dina Lohan should take full responsibility for her daughter demise in life. I hope Lindsay does get on the right track and be smart enough to tell her mother to stay out of her life. She was a good young actress who was pushed by ruthless parents.
Please quit placing this person in the news and on these articles, she hasn't done a movie in years she is irrelevent, no one cares what she has to say. please stop.
Agreed. Lohan has done nothing positive. She has only put the public at risk with her drinking, drugging, and driving. She is no longer acceptable as an entertainer so don't waste our time with her rehab stories. ENOUGH
She's working of recovery "and stuff"? That sounds as brainless as Kelly Bundy's show "Issues 'n Stuff". Linzey is a hopped-up, useless, untalented moron.
I'm like getting tired of hearing about Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan and stuff. The more you talk about these losers the more credibility they have and stuff. Lindsay sure is no mental giant, that's for sure, and stuff.
Proving that she can accept the consequences of her actions by doing some actual jail time, is the one way that Lindsay can redeem herself in the court of public opinion. The other way is to stay off drugs and alcohol which probably means she needs to quit the party scene in the clubs she likes to frequent. Lindsay is young, and I've always thought she had talent. But it's time for her to own that the path she is following is very destructive personally and professionally.
I like Lindsey! I just watched her last nite on a rerun of Georgia Rule. I think she was excellent! However, I hope that she doesn't get preferential treatment; by not getting it is the only way to straighten out.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Sorry, she is Guilty this time and she's gonna do some time. I always pull for the bad guy but this time I bet she's going down.

Aw, stuff it, the whole bunch of you. Especially YOU linzey.
Cindy, people like you always miss the point. If anything should happen to Linds & Charlie, there will be others taking their place.
