James Franco Goes After Critical Fellow Yale Student
James Franco, who joined
Twitter just two weeks ago to help promote the Oscars, is now using the site to defend himself against haters -- namely a fellow student at Yale -- who skewered him not for his
maligned performance on Sunday, but for his style of tweeting.
"James Franco, your Twitter sort of sucks," Yale Daily News writer Cokey Cohen
posted Saturday. In her article, Cohen argued that the actor should do more than post "random links to pictures and replies to celebrities." The writer suggested James be more "pithy" like Kanye West.
The critically acclaimed star of '127 Hours' has so far been silent on criticism he was sluggish or perhaps even stoned during the Oscars on Sunday. He also hasn't commented on reports that he and co-host Anne Hathaway grew to hate each other. (
They looked chummy backstage!) But on Tuesday, James
posted an image of himself overlaid with the words "F**K THE YALE DAILY NEWS" in red capital letters.
Cohen told The New Haven Register that her critical blogs of the star's posts were "tongue-in-cheek" and that they were supposed to be all in good fun. She says she's actually a big fan of the actor.
"It's funny how James couldn't really care less about what anyone had to say about his performance, but went crazy after a writer at his campus newspaper criticized his Twitter page," a friend of the star tells me.
I'm told that James had simply "had enough," that it's one thing to be called one of the worst Oscar hosts in history but another to get a lesson from a fellow student on how to conduct himself online.
In case you were wondering, James is pursuing a doctorate in English at the Ivy League school.

I thought James Franco did a fine job. It was as though he was straight man for Anne Hathaway. I enjoyed the Oscar performances, even though the receivers tend to go on and on ad nauseum thanking folks.
I love the movies
I'm 80 years old!!!!!

Franco don't let these jerks get you down. Why should they care if you wantto do all these things...life is short and you obviously want to get a lot in. Just know people in Minneapolis think you're a brilliant actor. The best in your generation. You were adorable during the Oscars. This was our favorite show because of you!!!!! I'm not sure why you've been getting all this hate. But, then again...these are probably all of those intellectual TV watchers of the Kardashians, all the desparete house wives show, American Idol...dancing with the stars, the biggest losers.....this is what most of america thinks is good TV viewing...so what else needs to be said about them. My husband and I have loved you in everything you've done. Congratulations. We loved this Oscars show.

James Franco did a terrific job at the Oscars, I thought his tweets were great enabling the followers to get an up close feel of the entire experience. The Oscars didn't like him because he let anyone who was interested get an up close look at what really happens at the Oscars and not what we are allowed to view.
The Yale News is just threatened by James Franco's intelligence and savvy style. He is a very intelligent person. Rather relying on being an actor for his future he is actually expanding on his education to further his opportunities. Kudos to James Franco a great role model for kids looking to pursue acting, showing them an education is important. Anyone with negative derogatory remarks of James Franco is simply jealous of his success, creativity, and intelligence...not to mention his good looks

Okay so maybe Franco's tweets aren't prize winning but I would rather have nothing but replies and dumb instagram photos than some of the crap like 50 Cent making inappropriate jokes about the Tsunami or Sheen's mental breakdown.

OH Please Yapper!!! He stunk as a host, period.
As far as "raggin" on him; he took the shot at hosting, and failed miserably. A little "raggin" ain't gonna destroy him , if he's as good as you believe.
