Warner Bros. Buys Out Broadway Theater So That Daniel Radcliffe Can Promote 'Harry Potter'
Daniel Radcliffe has overextended himself, and it's costing Warner Bros. a pretty penny -- $500,000 to be precise.
The 'Harry Potter' actor is signed on to appear in this year's Broadway revival of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.' At the same time, the second installment of '
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is due to open in July, in London. This means that the English actor might not be available to fulfill promo obligations for the final film in the 'Harry Potter' saga.
Warner's execs have made a deal to rent out the Hirschfield Theater where Radcliffe's play is being staged for five nights to keep his schedule free and clear. It's costing them a cool half-million dollars, and according to the
New York Post, studio bosses are not pleased.
A source told them, "This is the final film, so it's a big deal. A grand world premiere is being planned as well as a U.S. premiere and a press tour. They absolutely couldn't do it without their big star. But the theater producers dug their heels in and said they wouldn't release Radcliffe unless Warner bought out the entire theater for the nights they need him."
Meanwhile, Radcliffe's rep is smoothing things over by claiming, "Everything is fine, Dan is promoting the film and is happy to do so. With all productions there are scheduling issues, but everything has all been worked out. Warner Bros. is very supportive of Dan, and there is no issue."

This film doesn't need any promoting..It will be a sell out just based on the fact that we finally see an end to the Harry Potter Series and have closure on the characters..

Warner execs spend more than this on hookers in a month.
No big deal.

Susan is correct. Get it over with and move on. The theatre should have sued the little twit for being so full of himself that he agreed to two things at once. What, 'fairy dust' going to make it work?
