Beyonce Donates Gaddafi Performance Money to Haiti Relief

Last week it was reported that pop stars Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Usher were among those who received money to perform at private functions for Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his family. In response to the public scrutiny for receiving money from the ruling brood that has threatened its own people with "rivers of blood," some of the stars are donating the money to charity.

Earlier this week, Nelly Furtado announced she would donate the $1 million to charity for the money she received four years ago from the Gaddafi family.

Now Beyonce is following suit, as the Huffington Post is reporting that she donated $1 million to the Clinton Foundation shortly after the Jan. 12, 2010, earthquake in Haiti.

A WikiLeaks report, published in The New York Times, stated that several American artists have performed at various parties for the tyranical family, and that Gaddafi's son Muatassim, who is the country's national security adviser, hired Beyonce and Usher to entertain at his New Year's Eve party in St. Barts.

According to a statement released today from a rep for the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, "Once it became known that the third-party promoter was linked to the Gaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."

While the news did not come from Beyonce herself, and no one can be certain if the donation was made because of the Gaddafi connection or not, giving $1 million to the Haitian relief fund is worthy of praise regardless.

That's nice hon, but you just threw your money down a drain. They don't appreciate and it won't get to the people who really need it. There are so many other worthy organizations that you could have really done some good for. That's really nice of you to donate but you really screwed up by not doing your homework on this. It really is too bad. I cry for your mistake.

She is not donating anything now that she has been caught. What she is saying is that she donated a million dollars to Haiti when the earth quake happened, so she considers herself even..off the hook, lets pretend it was the million she made performing for them... as if, had she not performed, she would not have given Haiti any money 'in the past'.

Have these folks given any money to the American people, outside of Katrina, who have been suffering consistantly between natural disasters, Oil spills, and this depression?

This is just PR cr-p. These stars are only donating the money they made *3-4 years ago* because they got "caught".

I have to agree there. Had they not gotten caught, they would hang onto the money. As for one of them donating to Haiti... I doubt she used the money she got from him, and was going to, given they were black, donate money anyway. After all..she's made a bundle.

Funny how all those liberal stars had no problem taking money from a dictator and terrorist murderer. I wish they would all use a better term to describe themselves rather than LIBERAL, as they have all given a whole new meaning to the word. And I don't just mean this for these stars and the incidents with him and his family, but all those 'liberals' out there that are anything but. Selfserving, is more like it and far far from tolerant.

Why dont these people donate money to things in the USA that can help Americans who are suffering, it must have something to do with the tax right off, now she has the charity right off, so since its been so quiet this whole time, there are plenty of entertainers who do this type of thing, its all about the money.I just dont understand why these entertainers of all types will do what ever they can to help other countries and Animals before they will help our own and I find that disturbing, I guess they dont know who pays to see there movies or buys there cd's, they will in the near future.

She did not donate the money she got from the Gaddafi family from the performance. Thousands of other people donated to Haiti LAST YEAR and that has nothing to do with this story. Give back the money you money an power hungry Bi&ch! You have hundreds of millions of dollars so whats the problem?

Before we start handing out Humanitarian Awards to these two greedy Bimbo's lets understand that they should not have gone to Lybia in the first place. Unless they live under a rock or their handlers have no idea who or what Lybia represents to the U. S. they should have gone elsewhere to earn a quick buck. Did I read this right? She donated money over a year ago to Hati, and no one has confirmed if it has anything to do with the Lybia scandal? I would not call this a news article, but a wish note on the part of the author. Given Beyonce's cash flow..she should be giving MILLIONS away each year. Obviously she has a time machine though..the rich really aren't like you and I.

You donation - a little too late. aIt is only being done because she got caught. Had that not occured, I seriously doubt Hati waould be getting such a generous gift. It just goes to further prove that these "entertainers" will do anything for money.
