It's the end of a comedy era. Steve Carell, aka Michael Scott, is filming his last scenes for 'The Office' today--and many around the country are mourning his soon-to-be-aired departure from the hit TV series.Earlier today, Rainn Wilson, who plays the delightfully quirky Dwight Schrute, Tweeted that it was Carell's final day on set: "Steve Carell's last day on 'The Office.' And the angels of comedy wept... #saddestdayever." And while the cast might be incredibly sad to see their courageous comedic leader leave, it's safe to assume the sitcom's audience will miss Carell even more.
During his stint on the show, Carell was constantly described as the glue that held 'The Office' cast together--on screen and off. Critics and audiences alike are eager to see if the sitcom can continue to work without its most billable star.
Carell wasn't always this well known. When he took the gig as Michael Scott, manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton office, he was known only to die-hard 'The Daily Show' fans. Fast-forward six years and he's one of the most sought after comedic actors in Hollywood. And as EW.com points out, he became a mega-movie star without even taking a break from his regular gig at Dunder Mifflin.

So is he now gone for good? I'm hoping "yes" because I'm tired of his nose.

I cannot believe this show has lasted as long as it has. This has got to the be most dull show on all of television. I know alsolutely no one that could tolerate this no-talent show.

You don't have much of a sense of humor, do you Dave?
I second that .... It was the most stupides show I've ever seen.. I gave it three tries.. Which are two tries too many...
I think perhaps you just "don't get it" this is one of the funniest shows ever on t.v. and obviously millions of people think so too.
Dave...get out much there buddy? What do you people watch here....Ed Sullivan re-runs ?...geeesh.
The Office is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched! Mind you, I have worked in several offices over the years.
I think it holds up as well as 'Seinfeld'. Time will tell...
the show is a bore.fox should have kept seinfeld on anyway.seinfeld never gets old.the office is a snooze fest.

People who criticize "The Office" obviously don't "get" the humor. It is the Best show on TV, maybe Ever and I love STeve Carrell and all the other characters. They should end it Now though...it will never be the same, nor as good, without Michael Scott. So Long...

I think that to really love "Office", you have to have worked in an office with many people. If you haven't, it seems stupid because it is hard to believe that people are as weird, gross, inept, devious and sometimes ignorant and insensative as the characters. But they are very close to reality..ask anyone who works in an office situation with more than 6 people. Steve Carell is so close to some of the jerks I have worked with that I can't believe he didn't work with me. Good luck Steve, and the rest of the cast, you have given me many laughs and feeling of revenge taken by laughing at such self absorbed jerks. God bless.
