David Arquette, who just recently finished a stint in rehab, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he crashed his car in a head-on collision on Friday, PEOPLE reports.

Beverly Hills Police Dept. spokeswoman told the magazine: "No alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash whatsoever. It appears that the accident will be Mr. Arquette's fault for driving on the wrong side of the roadway."

Arquette also let his friends and fans know he hadn't relapsed. "Refused all pain medication-may the record state- still sober!" the actor tweeted from his hospital bed.

The 'Scream 4' actor was driving in West Hollywood when his vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic. An eyewitness told the site that a car in front of Arquette suddenly stopped, forcing him to steer into traffic, causing the accident.
