Emma Watson Announces Plans to Leave College
Emma Watson's incredible balancing act between her high-profile acting career and her Ivy League education has impressed fans, but it seems to have proved too much for the young actress.
On her
official site, the 20-year-old 'Harry Potter' star announced that she will be leaving Rhode Island's prestigious Brown University, where she began her undergraduate studies in 2009.
In a message to her fans, Watson wrote: "Hi everyone. As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible."
She continued: "I've decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree... it's just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought. Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support."
Watson, who stars in the upcoming 'My Week With Marilyn,' has a busy schedule ahead of her already, with 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' hitting theaters this July.

Just another way of saying, "I am not smart enough to obtain a college degree."

What is YOUR degree? Is it from an Ivy League school? I didn't think so...
I doubt that she is not smart enough.....it's another way of saying "every year I am at college I am missing out on another 10 million dollars I could have made"
you couldn't be more wrong..actually Watson is very intelligent...but did you happen to notice..SHE IS WORTH MILLIONS!!!...kinda makes college superfluous...
Actually, she's saying "I've got too much money and work for a college degree!"

I'd do the same! College degrees aren't worth much in todays economy and one does need to earn a living. In her case a very good living. It's a sign of her intelligence if you ask me.

There's probably not one of us who wouldn't do the same. She's very young, and is getting the opportunities of a lifetime. She can always go back to school, but she may miss out on opportunities that won't be there in a few more years. I think she's a smart cookie.

Natalie Portman did the full load at Harvard and worked and obtained a degree in science is a scientist and an oscar winner. Her professors said she did all her work on time or early, and never once asked for special treatment.
I hope Emma finishes. She is too bright to not get a degree.

But Natalie Portman wasn't flying back and forth to Europe on a regular basis. Emma's career is really happening over there, not to mention that's where her family is. That's got to take it's toll.
Natalie Portman is not a "Scientist". She has a degree in psychology, which is a social science.
Bill Gates also dropped out of college.

Stay in school, Emma. The entertainment industry is full of morons. Don't make yourself another victim of Hollywood superficiality.

I'm fairly sure that she wants to get her degree. I thought principal photography for the last Harry Potter film is finished. The only thing she might be needed is to provide voice overs (just show up in a studio and record her voice) and to promote the film. But the press junket shouldn't start until after June 1. It makes more sense for her to take a break from school in the fall 2011 to show up for premieres for countries that air the final Harry Potter movie after the United States and Britain.
Isn't a psychology major awarded a Bachelor of Arts (not a Bachelor of Sciences) degree?

Psychology can be either a BA or a BS. My husband has a BS in Psych, while I have a BA. It all depends on what else you study.
Emma is very young. She's got her whole life to finish her degree and the demands of promoting a Harry Potter movie can not be 'a walk in the park'. Few child actors have made the transition to adult stars and I can not blame her for taking care of her acting career now as there is no guarantee if she'll have one later. If she wasn't smart enough to be at Brown, she would have dropped out after the first semester, not two years later. I wish her the very best!

Smart girl!!! It is always better to do one thing well than do two things poorly. Congrats to her on making a difficult decision, and I wish her luck with her education in the future.

She's a smart and level headed girl, I'm sure it will all work out. And she's is absolutely stunning! Perfect eyebrows.

I wish Emma Watson would announce plans to grow her hair back. A pretty girl, but that 'do...yuck.

Another misleading headline from AOL! She isn't LEAVING...she's just taking longer to get her degree. Read the article!
