Why Is Charlie Sheen on Edge? 'He's Cash Poor,' Says Insider

Newly out-of-work actor
Charlie Sheen is making his public fight against his ex-bosses at CBS and Warner Bros. Television about defending his honor, but sources very close to the actor tell me the real reason is the guy is "cash poor" and desperately needs the money to maintain his vast, complicated estate.
"Charlie has earned an enormous amount of money with this show, but he has also spent a fortune and now finds himself in the very tricky position of being cash poor," an insider tells me. "Every penny he has is tied up in property or business dealings."
According to my source, what Charlie needs is cold hard cash and "that's why he's fighting so hard to try and get the $16 million he lost when CBS originally suspended production on the eight remaining episodes of this season."
See fans suggest who could be the next Charlie Sheen -- both on 'Two and a Half Men' and in the headlines:
Beware former "overlords," Charlie intends to fight to make sure he still gets a big paycheck if the show continues without him, which seems to be the case. According to the
Hollywood Reporter, Warners execs and show boss Chuck Lorre are signaling that 'Men' will likely return in the fall. (They're mum on who will replace him.)
Charlie claims to have a so-called 'Michael J. Fox Clause' in his contract, referring to the fact that Michael still earned money from 'Spin City' even after he left the show (and was replaced by Charlie Sheen). Charlie's contract with 'Two and a Half Men' is reportedly based on a similar model, which is why he hopes the show continues without him.
"Charlie wants the show to continue as long as he gets paid," a friend of actor's tells me. "He would like nothing better than to earn money to stay home while someone else does the work."

Another interesting kink in the show's future, via THR: "Existing deals with CBS and syndicators require both Sheen's and Lorre's participation in the show, but Warners execs believe those pacts could be renegotiated if Lorre agreed to return and the right cast came together. And one thing is certain: At least the initial ratings next season would be huge."
In the meantime, the enterprising star is also busy making deals to to put "Winning" and his other catchphrases on T-shirts to capitalize on his elevated profile these days.
I've also learned that Charlie is shopping an interview for $1 million, though since he's been giving them away for free for the past week and a half it's not clear what he could say that would be worth that kind of money!

Charlie Sheen has Bipolar I Disorder and is presently experiencing an extreme manic episode. It is a shame that the general public and the news media know so little about this emotional disorder.Instead of making jokes about him, they should be expressing empathy and understanding both towards Charlie and his family. He is a very sick man who has no control over his behavior at this time. Nancy Fawcett,Ph.D.
I think charlie is just as bad a business man as actor at times. To have made so much and still be cash poor is ridiculous. Sell off some of your business ventures and move on. Save Creatively . c om has some great ways you can avoid being cash poor by saving it.
i am sure the man is rich s can be. and i am sure the heavy drug use shattered his nerves ... so he is on edge. and in truth he is taking the losses the way most people do. we just think we are cooler and no one can see us rant and rave and rage...
LOSING lol
What Charlie Sheen really nees is "SOS Safely Obtaining Sobriety." It is a new book with a modern approach to dealing with dependency and recovery. No games. No guilt. No canned programs. Sheen may be half way there, but he still needs to know what to do with himself next. I guarantee he will get answers in my book. Anyone can. Search for it. The title is SOS Safely Obtaining Sobriety by George Legacy. I have been there. I know what I am talking about. That is why I wrote it.

THe guy keeps running his mouth like a loon, who is gonna hire him? He needs help. If he can heal himself, (like he says he can), why the heck doesn't he stop smoking like a fien, even in front of his kids. WHY??? Because he is addicted and CAN"T heal himself. He is a loser.
Way to many other things to worry about in this life than that fool.
....AND THE IRONY....no one is going to hire because of his attitude.
Reply
actually, money wins over, they will hire him as long as he brings in the ratings. Which is why CBS put up with so much of him to begin with.
Well howard stem will eagerly exploit charlie. He is anxious to make more of a fool out of charlie than he already is(if that is possible)just so long as he can make some money. howard has been out of the little bit of a spotlight he once had for so long he hopes charlie shim can bring that spotlight back for him. What he doesn't realize is that he is still a giant size douchebag that nobody wants to see or hear from. Maybe stem and shim can go bury themselves in giant puddles of cow dung and die. Now wouldn't the world be a better place?
They might overlook his attitude If they saw money in hiring him. His problem is they feel he is too big a financial risk. The studios won't risk throwing big money into him, production is too expensive. Same thing happened with Lindsay Lohan. Too risky to hire.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Robert Downey Jr was almost as bad a wreck and people still hired him.
Yeah right, he is poor, and I just grew wings and flew out of the room.

ROYALITIES!!! Yep I got wings too
"Cash poor". It's not the same thing as "poor". It means he emptied his bank account on prostitutes and drugs but can get plenty more if he sold his house(s), car(s) and other properties.
That's a good one!
They didn't say he was poor, they said he is CASH poor...big difference. That happens a lot with people who have a lot of money, they put their money into property, cars, jewelry, stock, business ventures, etc., but don't have a lot of available cash. He's done a lot of that, plus he's blown a lot of cash that he did have...so I can see how he can be CASH poor, even though he's very rich on paper.
When he starts hocking books, and other businesses on internet posts, we’ll know he’s broke.
