Chris Brown Reflects on Rihanna 'Mishap': 'I'm in a Positive Place'

To say that
Chris Brown's considerable talent has been overshadowed by his personal life in recent years is an understatement -- at the very least.
The 21-year-old singer, whose popularity took a nosedive following his assault on former girlfriend
Rihanna, opened up to
Page Six about the "mishap" and where his career is headed.
Brown, whose latest album, 'F.A.M.E.,' stands for 'Forgiving All My Enemies,' says of the period following his arrest, "The last two years, everybody dissed me, but my fans were so dedicated."
While he's grateful for the people who stuck by him, Brown says he acutely felt the sting of those who turned their backs. "[People] don't want to get involved with it because they don't want their name attached to anything negative. Unknowingly, they kind of show their true colors when they do that," he says.
The singer, who is currently serving a five-year probation sentence for the assault says, "People are always gonna talk. But I'm in a positive place... You can't blame people for how they want to be portrayed or if they don't want to be associated with somebody who had a particular mishap."
Brown, who has publicly
apologized for his bad behavior, in addition to completing court-ordered hard labor,
anger management and
domestic violence classes, says that two years after the incident, he's done what he can to repair his image and his life.
"At the end of the day, if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I'm gonna look like a damn fool."

Wow. If you don't want people turning their backs on you then maybe you shouldn't punch girls. #justsayin.

MISHAP? You mean his fist accidentally flew a dozen times into her face? My goodness, what a terrifying ordeal that must have been for him!
BULLSH!T. Just a lot of spin by some not so clever publicists. Please don't fall for it.

When Chris Brown calls what he did to Rihanna a mishap, it sounds like he's trying to minimize his actions and I would have to question if he's really changed.

She starting hitting him first. Doesn't excuse him for stepping it up past reasonable self defense and really wailing on her but Rhianna has some accountability for what happened. The guy has kept out of trouble since the incident and taken his punishment seriously. As long as it does not happen again he deserves a second chance.
Did CB call it a mishap or did the person writing the article use the word to describe the situation.
In the title what CB says is in quotes; the word mishap is in the title not in the quote by CB. People are still so quick to jump this man. It's been two years. If you are still hating on this young man then obviously you don't have a life.
Domestic violence a "mishap"? I'd really hate to hear what he calls murder!

Is this the same guy who brought his Mommy on Larry King to discuss his character. Chris Brown is a BUM.

Chris is right. Some People do show their true colors when some nutcase on a huge ego trip beats hell out of a woman. They let him know that do not approve of such behaviour by alienating themselves from him. What does he want them to do. Put their arm around him and say, "That's OK. you're Chris Brown and you can do whatever you feel like.." I'm glad he found out at a young age that kind of behaviour sure puts his goal to be a super star on hold.

I wish all of these media outlets and horrible unforgiving jerks would be realistic and truthful and say that Rihanna the insecure animal hit Chris Brown first. I don't care who or what gender you are you should keep your hands to your damn self or you are going to get it back. Get what you give in this life. Make the best of it or make it right!

Nothing ever gives the man, a REAL man, the right to hit a woman ever. Period. End of story.
Bulls#!@ Peanut Butter, I don't put my hands on anyone, but if anyone puts their hands on me and you can't be restrained, HELL YEAH THEY'RE GONNA GET ONE BACK, male or female.
Not saying that Chris didn't go overboard, but I'll be damned if I tell my son that it's okay for a woman to hit you...
Everyone deserves a second chance. What Chris did was wrong, I think we all agree with that but Being a girl doesn't give you the right to hit a guy first and get away with it. He got carried away, but their are many many males out there that if a women hit them they will hit them back. And as for the females that believe that their is no forgiveness then you need to think again, because there is lots of us Mothers that have sons that also go through abuse by their girlfriends, wives,... and maybe don't condone in hitting a women but how about defending themselves.

I see it more and more every day these girls acting more like boys than the boys do (not to mention that I, like Rihanna, am West Indian and if there's anything I know, is that West Indian women can get violent). So if you wanna put out anything about what a REAL man should/shouldn't do, maybe you should also point out what a REAL WOMAN should/shouldn't do as well, no?

Mishap? is that what they call a *BEATING*, now days-interesting take on it...F.A.M.E. forgiving all my enemies(?) it should be titled *PLEASE FORGIVE ME*....stoopid man...

This is the reason why we can't let our children grow up watching us get abused. Its because they'll grow up and do the same thing they saw their fathers and mothers do and think its ok. The same children will grow up to be adults that abuse their children, wives or girlfriends and have no remourse about it what so ever, hence, Chris Brown.

Still not facing the reality of the situation or taking any responsibility at all for his actions or himself, I see.
When you do - you are eligible to apply for a second chance in the minds of most people. Until then, you're just another lowlife thug not worthy of wasting our time on.

Chris made the same mistake men and women make everyday. He had the misfortune of making it with some one who thought she had balls too.We the public don't know what happened in that car, because we were not there. But judging is easy when someone else is in the hot seat.let he who is without sin cast the first stone.Chris the best way to please the public is to be like them, thank your lucky stars you are not.Keep making great music, and your real fans will be happy.Keep your eyes on the prize.
