Lindsay Lohan Threatens Lawsuit Over Surveillance Tape Sale

As
Lindsay Lohan prepares to face a judge once again on Thursday, she and her lawyers are discussing the possibility of filing a lawsuit against the jewelry store who sold
surveillance footage of her.
According to
E! Online, Lohan wants to file suit against Kamofie & Co, the jewelry store that has accused her of
felony theft. The actress claims the store sold footage of her trying on the necklace she is charged with stealing, which is valued at $2,500.
'Entertainment Tonight' paid a rumored sum of $25,000 for the exclusive footage. The store claims, however, there was no sale -- at least not one involving them.
"We have heard the report today that Lindsay Lohan is preparing to sue Kamofie & Co...claiming [we] had no right to release the surveillance video. We wish to remind everyone that we turned the tape over to the Associated Press and that Kamofie & Co. has had no contact or dealings with 'Entertainment Tonight,'" said store spokesman Christopher Spencer.
A rep for the Associated Press also responded to Lohan's claim.
"Under an agreement with the copyright owner of the video, AP's commercial images division worked out a deal allowing 'Entertainment Tonight' to air the video exclusively at this time," an AP rep said.
The jewelry store also claims they have not yet heard from Lohan's camp regarding any further legal action.
"As of this moment, we have never received any contact or communication of any type from Lindsay Lohan's attorneys or her representative that she intended to file a legal complaint in this matter," Spencer said.
Legal experts commenting on Lohan's lawsuit threat claim she has no case. Her theft charges and court case amount to a "matter of public interest," making the footage's release to the AP constitutionally protected.
Lohan is expected in court Thursday to answer to felony theft and probation violation charges. She'll either take a plea, which would include jail time, or the case will go to trial. According to
TMZ, Lohan is not expected to take the plea.

I think that ALL thieves should have whatever footage a store has, be made public for all to see. Let the world know, exactly what kind of person they are.
In America, a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. At this point, Lindsay is accused of the crime but not convicted. There is a big difference.
Releasing this video now was wrong. Why would the store turn over a copy of the video to the press except for profit or in an attempt to shore up their own case by attempting to sway public perception/opinion. To me, it says something about their low ethics and principles.
Hey Victoria, when video surveillance is released to the public in order to identify a criminal, is that wrong?
Innocent till proven guilty. Yes, that's true but the tape speaks for itself. Let's not forget Lindsay had a similar incident with a fur coat earlier last year. Clearly she did not learn her lesson. When she saw the chain on her she should have called the store and paid for it. She's a bottom feeder with no talent whatsoever. Lock her away and throw away the key. Enough on this simpleton.
@Victoria
Where do you live where it's still innocent until proven guilty? that died in America along time ago and it's been guilty until you can prove your innocence and then convince the crooked judge that the truth isn't what he and his buddies decide in chambers .
It's Hollywood, she'll walk.

ahhhhhh what about you were tired of your face as well .lol
The good news is that the world will see what kind of a lying thief she is. The bad news is that now her attornies can claim she can not get a fair trail and this may ruin the prosecutions chance to lock this marcisssistic brat up for this. She may do a few months for the probation violations but now there is little chance of her being appropriately punished for her crime and she will continue to think Lindsay Lohan is above the rules everyone else has to abide by.

For someone who has broken the law with drugs, alcohol, driving offenses, shop-lifting, this spoiled brat is always eager to see if she can make a buck. The term "lawsuit' seems to be on the tip of her tongue. Guess she gets it from her two fine, useless, money-grabbing parents.

She's not mad that the tape got sold, she's mad because she didn't get any of the profits. She, like the rest of her family, is a no-talent, low-life bottom-feeding wh0re.
Linzey...shut up and go away.

How can this brainless ninny think she has any kind of serious career in the movies at this point? NO ONE takes her seriously. She is a joke. She's done.

You know who put that thought in her "air head". Her low life attorney. Lawyers will stoop as low as it takes to win a case. One again to the wise.... Never pay a attorney up FRONT. It's just a gift to them.
I for one, feel Lindsay should now be incarcerated, in the general jail population. Why should she be able to do something like steal and not face the consequences like you or I would? She is not above the law. She has been baiting the judicial system now for years. Enough is enough. Jail her sorry azz and let her see what true punishment is. She is pathetic and a sorry loser.
