While some are aghast that Suri Cruise is allowed to have her pacifier at age 5, we asked our Facebook fans and found out it wasn't as uncommon as you might think. Read on to see stories from parents about their kids' pacifier habits.Lisa Matican Rosengarten: My son had it until 5. I told him that children less fortunate need his pacifier and can't afford their own. He gladly gave it up but at bedtime he would seem to go through "withdrawals". It didn't last long :)
Megan Aubin: Oh yes, both of my girls did. One, it took a fancy Barbie to get her to give it up. The other daughter we basically had to throw them all out. We tried the garbage but she just took them out again!!!

Are you kidding? Of course she is too old for a pacifier. Dear Lord? Why even ask this lame question?

Oral fixations are genetic.
My daughter had one till she was 5years old. Why do we want r kids to grow up so fast. SHE IS ONLY 5YEARS OLD give me a break really.
Oh please, go to where any crack head hangs out and you will see grown men with pacifiers.
I have to fully agree, she is WAY to old to have it. My god don't these people know what harm it can do to kids teeth. Take the thing away. They should not have given it to her in the first place. My girls both just never wanted one.. thank God for that..
Sorry, I have never seen a 5 year old who wasn't mentally challenged with a pacifier. This is just more indulgence heaped on a child of privledge. It also requires effort to stop this and apparently Katie isn't motivated right now. Next people will want to know if wearing diapers at 7 is okay for a seemingly normal child.
Hey t, if she sucked her thumb no one would say anything...As far as her teeth, still no difference between the two and her mouth. She will let go of it soon enough.
Katie, older kids do sometimes buy candy pacifiers to suck on but I find the kids that do this, know they'll stand out, get attention from other kids; like having black fingernails or a purple streak in your hair. In Suri's case, I have a feeling her whims are indulged, and I don't see her mom hanging out with other kindergarten moms asking,"Do you think I should make the pacifier disappear?" For all that we see celebrities and their kids on magazine covers, I get the impression they are fairly isolated. You frequently see Suri with her mom and dad but not so much with other kids.
Are you kidding me? She still has a pacifier? That's called letting the kid be the boss. If she gets what she wants at this age because they can't stand to hurt her feelings, God them in the future.

It is not. They tell you when they are ready. It is relaxing leave her alone
having a pacifier at that age is the result of lazy parenting..it's pathetic

NOT
I totally agree!
What does a child this age need to "destress" from or to "calm" herself from? With parents who have the ability to take care of her every need, all the food, medical care, babysitters, clothes, toys, etc. that so many kids these days don't even have, I can't imagine what she would need a pacifier for. Except to control Mommy and Daddy, as it seems she does with everything else in their lives, one smart conniving little girl she is! Tells Mommy how to dress, runs around in high heels, which I am sure are good for the development of her bones in her feet at this age, no coat when Mom is bundled up.....I wonder who is the acting adult in this duo?
her daddy likes "pacifiers" in his mouth too.

Looks like a typical, spoiled Hollywood kid. It's not their fault, the parents spoil them rotten and the kid is going to go for all they can get away with. My four kids were off pacifiers as soon as they were able to crawl and do something besides suck on something. Thumbs weren't allowed either.
She looks rediculous!

My son had a pacifier for his first few weeks but only while I was making a bottle. I think parents that allow their children to run around sucking on a silicone nipple are nuts and breeding more insecurities into an already week society. It's not cute; and they're terribly unclean.
How gross, she's five? That's just bad parenting.
