While some are aghast that Suri Cruise is allowed to have her pacifier at age 5, we asked our Facebook fans and found out it wasn't as uncommon as you might think. Read on to see stories from parents about their kids' pacifier habits.Lisa Matican Rosengarten: My son had it until 5. I told him that children less fortunate need his pacifier and can't afford their own. He gladly gave it up but at bedtime he would seem to go through "withdrawals". It didn't last long :)
Megan Aubin: Oh yes, both of my girls did. One, it took a fancy Barbie to get her to give it up. The other daughter we basically had to throw them all out. We tried the garbage but she just took them out again!!!

oh boy you are special?????
Suri is a beautiful child, and as the youngest child in her family, the tendency might be to treat her as more of a baby than she is. She is too old for a pacifier.

Suri wears heels and sucks on a pacifier...
Do you see the problem?
God Bless her.

Damn she's a baby you stupid idiots

No, Kathy, that's the point. She's not a baby. So, I guess you're the idiot.
If you think she's still a baby, you probably have a 28 year old "adolescent" living with you in your trailer.
I would point out one thing, at five years old she is kindergarten age which is still very young but not a baby. Suri is being home schooled from what I've read. If she were in public school, a pacifier would not be allowed during the day at least. A child may not suck their thumb or have dental problems because they still have a pacifier at 5 but it definitely encourages problems with both.
Never gave one to my son and he never missed it. If babies are crying there is a reason, Stop sticking junk in there mouths to shut them up! Deal with the problem and enjoy the day. My son is three now and it's great not taking it out to talk with him. People look so silly, trying to talk with children and they are sucking away. YUCK, YUCK!

And it's out business because.....

Only her dentist knows for sure, but my guess is that she should give up the pacifier, the sooner the better. Continued use will cause dental problems to develop and probably mental problems, too.

TAKE A PHOTO OF HER WITH THE THING IN HER MOUTH-FRAME IT SET IT IN HER ROOMALONG WITH A PHOTO OF HER WHEN SHE WAS A INFANT OR TODDLER. EVERYTIME SHE WANTS TO WEAR HER OR HER MOMS HEELS MOM SHOULD PUT ON HIGH HEELS AND SAY I WEAR HEELS BECAUSE I AM A BIG GIRL-SHOW HER THE PICTURE THEN SAY BUT YOU LIKE THIS STILL SO YOU ARE TOOLITTLE FOR HEELS. (WE ALL KNOW HOW MUCH HER MOM AND DAD LIKE HEELS)

She probably goes to kindergarten . Most 5 year olds do. I don't think once they start school they should be using a pacifier .

I wonder when it became so "unfashionable" to tell your children "NO"?

Oh give me a break. Everybody knows their own kid best and what their needs are. If you think all kids are the same you are wrong. I hope they don't give in to pressure, and let Suri be the best kid she can be. She is only five.

I was a fan of the pacifier until my children turned the age of 1. After that I took it away before they had a voice in the matter. They slept through out the night and I did not need to check under the couch every time I left the house making sure we had enough to sooth our screaming child. It is very much a child who had more say in her very young life than the adult. It does do more harm than good. Just ask a dentist. Lazy parent I agree.

Wait til she is wacked out on drugs 20 years from now and this picture surfaces. That "paci" will seem like the least of her problems. But I have to say I think the bottle and a pacifier need to be gone by 1 1/2 years. She is waaaaay too old for it. What is she going to do.. take it to school in her book bag for days when "she is feeling bad or needs a hug"???? Lazy, spine-less parents let their child be the boss!

She looks stupid. I'd rip it out of her mouth and throw it away.

EVEN A PEDIATRICIAN WILL TELL YOU- BOTTLES SHOULD BE GONE BY AGE 1 AND PACIFIERS SHOULD BE ELIMINATED BY AGE 2!

Children do not need pacifiers! I NEVER gave one to any of my 3 children. They can get buck teeth from it, and it's full of germs, etc. Lazy parents give their kids pacifers. Suri Cruise is adorable, but shame on Tom,and Katie for allowing Suri to suck on a pacifer, especially at age 5. It's shameful.
