While some are aghast that Suri Cruise is allowed to have her pacifier at age 5, we asked our Facebook fans and found out it wasn't as uncommon as you might think. Read on to see stories from parents about their kids' pacifier habits.Lisa Matican Rosengarten: My son had it until 5. I told him that children less fortunate need his pacifier and can't afford their own. He gladly gave it up but at bedtime he would seem to go through "withdrawals". It didn't last long :)
Megan Aubin: Oh yes, both of my girls did. One, it took a fancy Barbie to get her to give it up. The other daughter we basically had to throw them all out. We tried the garbage but she just took them out again!!!

Have you seen the way she dresses up? She wears heels, and looks like she is already a teenager the way she is. Then the pacifier?? It looks not right! If she wants to be a kid, let her be.

I started to throw my son's pacifier away at age 3. He picked it out of the garbage. Since he only had it when he was in bed it wasn't so bad. At age 4 we tossed it out again and he didn't want it back.

If the parents and the child really feel that she MUST still have the pacifier at age 5, it would probably be best to keep it for quiet times at home, not out strolling down the avenue.

My daughter went through something similar like Suri BUT NOT at the age of 5! I know every child is different, but our Pediatrician said pacifiers are a calming device and also some children use it for insecure issues of some sort-- my daughter used a pacifier until she was 2 years old, she soon forgot about it after that and I replaced it with a stuff miniature bunny......till this day she lovessssssss bunnies!! lol

I think 5 is a little too old, but if they're like me you hate to see the last part of their "babyness" gone. I still let my 3 yr old grandson have one when he's going to sleep.

MY DAUGHTER HAS A PASIFIER FOR FOUR YEARS IT DAMAGED HER FRONT TEETH, THEY STUCK OUT LIKE RABBITS TEETH, DENTIST SAID IT WAS FROM THE PASIFIER. TODAY AT AGE 40 STILL HAS PROBLEMS WITH GUMS ,AND NO CURE FOR IT,DONT LOOK BAD BUT BRACES AND SLEEPING MOUTH PIECES DID NOT MAKE IT 100% JUST 95%
