Martha Stewart Is a Grandmother!

Martha Stewart can add one more job to her impressive resume: grandmother. The ultimate home entertainer's only daughter, Alexis, is the proud mom to a baby girl named Jude,
PEOPLE reports.
The baby was born via a gestational surrogate earlier this week.
While Stewart is over the moon with her new granddaughter, don't expect her to be called "Grandma."
"Martha is going to be called, 'Martha,'" Alexis, 45, said on her radio show, 'Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer
.' "She seemed to have no problem with it. ... I was like, 'Do you really want to be 'Grandma'?' I don't like the term grandma!"
No matter what the baby will call her, one thing's for sure: Stewart is eager to spoil the new addition to the family.
"She was born at 1 in the morning ... and [Martha] brings this huge box from Bergdorf [Goodman]," Alexis said. "I open it up and I look inside, and it's full of baby clothes, all with embroidery."
"I'm like, 'Wow, I guess I'm going to be allowed to buy myself something pretty nice because all this stuff's going back!' she said, not a fan of the extravagant gifts for her newborn. "If the kid can't see it, why the 100 dollar [clothes]?" she continued.
"Only books, child appropriate or whatever: that's the only thing that I want. No toys, please!"

How about calling her Granny, she looks like one.

She wasn't even there when the baby came home??? She didn't even see the child on the day she was born because she was on a business trip???? Oh My Gosh!
'"Only books, child appropriate or whatever: that's the only thing that I want. No toys, please!" ' Sounds like Alexis has inherited her mother's obsessive, controlling rigidity.

The daughter, I believe, has a female partner - the reason for the surrogate. She seemed a bit nasty to her mother about all the beautiful embroidered baby clothes Martha purchased; perhaps the daughter and her partner are green and will go back to their cabin in the woods, next to a stream, and live happily ever after in their Amish clothes and two seater bikes.

Alexis is 45, perhaps she is unable to conceive at this point or didn't want to take a chance at her age so perhaps that is why the surrogate. Don't know how old the partner is though.
She got divorced from her male husband a number of years ago and realized that if she was going to have a baby she had to do it on her own. She tried for years to get pregnant. Clearly this is how she ended up being able to be a mom.
Lesbians don't generally need gestational help; they have 2 women to choose from. ...just sayin'
Congratulations Martha!!! You can be called MeeMaw. Just wonderful news for the whole clan.

What an ungrateful B!tch! The gifts are for the kid not for her. Grandma's have the right to spoil their grandkids.

Oh what a potty mouth......Moms have the right to decide what they want for their child and as a "Nanna" myself I understand this but surely they can meet in the middle and keep a couple of the items for the baby! Congrats to all!
I agree, Alexis is a total rag. Shes rude, insensitive, shallow, nasty and callous. Her show is nothing but hate for mom and everything else on the planet. I hope she wises up soon and starts putting out positive vibes into the world because one day shes going to need them.
Not only that, what kind of mother will not allow her child to have a toy. Does she think the child can read at birth? This woman should not be a mom.
I totally agree with you. Spoiling my grand kids was my greatest joy. My grand kids are adults now and they love me and I love them. My love has always been unconditional and they love that.
Martha is paying for her raising ... such an ungrateful winch she has raised. Altho Martha is not one of my favorite people personality wise, I think she has exquisite taste and I know the clothes are probably very wonderful. There are a lot of cute names for grandmothers. I'm called "Honey". I know a "Cece", "Mimi", "Oma", "Babczi", "Dollie", and "Mims". When the kids learn to speak, they name you.

Oh for crying out loud Lexis... let your mom spoil the baby!..then you can donate to someone less fortunate than yourself..instead of thinking of what YOU can buy for yourself with the returned funds.... sooo selfish.. remind me of your mom in her younger years... if history repeats itself..? there is hope for you!!

No toys, did I read that correctly?
Great! Now Martha can leave her fortunes to her granddaughter instead of her rude and ungrateful daughter. Hope the daughter finds out soon how hard it is to be a mother. At least in time so she can be nicer to her own mother before it is too late.

RIGHT ON, Oh My !!! Her snarky daughter is ungrateful and uncaring. Wouldn't she be shocked if the will is read, and more money that God has goes to baby, and all the dogs????
Like who's she kidding?? She doesn't like the name grandma? And by the way, she's the age I was shen my first GREAT GRANDCHILD was born and I LOVE being called grandma. She is or will be 70 this year, so I don't think anyone thinks of her as a young woman!

Buy *myself* something nice? Yeah...she sounds like she'll be a great Mom. How selfish and bi*chy. They let just anyone raise kids nowadays.......don't they?

I think Martha should be called whatever she wants but yes, your grandchild will pick out her own name for her, like mine did. I'm "Mar." Who knows. I'm not wild about 'Grandma' either, being a very young one, but whatever. If she loves you and you love her, who cares? As for the clothes, yes Martha has great taste and it sounds like an awesome gift. If her daughter didn't want them, she should have at least been gracious about it. We don't know their 'back story,' but anyone can have manners and be polite.
