Pregnant recording artist Jewel had a scare this weekend in Stephenville, Texas, after a nasty two-car collision on Friday, with a volunteer fire truck that was being driven by a local official en route to a fire.

Upon her release from the hospital, Jewel tweeted, "Hey everyone - just got released from the ER & my Dr's office - everything is fine - me & the baby r ok - thanx 4 all your thoughts & prayers."

Even though a photo of the accident shows significant damage to her vehicle, there's no question the singer credits the car she was in with saving her life.

Jewel, 36, later told her Twitter followers, "One thing I do know is my car saved my & baby's life - definitely going 2 get another Cadillac SRX! It absorbed all the damage & kept me safe!"
