We now know it's splitsville for 'Bachelor' Brad Womack and Emily Maynard. Of course, we had to suffer the entire 'After the Rose' ceremony to learn that nothing is turning up roses for the reality television couple. Our body language expert Vincent Harris says he knew right from the start that these two were kaput. The subconscious doesn't lie, and Brad and Emily's bodies were pretty much screaming, "Get me the heck out of here!"
"I rarely stick my neck out this far, but this would not be a marriage that lasted long, or was too blissful while it did," Harris, the author of 'The Productivity Epiphany,' tells us.
Trouble was obvious right from the start of the show, when Chris Harrison asked the pair: "Do you consider yourself an engaged couple?"
Emily flashed a micro-expression of fear.
"It was a brief tightening and thinning of the lips, followed by 'I do' with a high pitched upward inflection at the end. This was indicative of doubt in what she is saying," Harris says.
While Brad was rubbing Emily's arm, she was patting his. No one wants a pat.
"Patting is what we do with people we have at an emotional distance; rubbing is a more intimate movement," Harris explains.
When Emily was asked a second time about being ready to get married, she said, "Right now, in this instant? I love you" (Upward inflection = Lies), "but no" (Powerful downward inflection on the "no" = She means no!)
Then we see Brad say: "The one thing I love about you among many things is your honesty." Sounds sweet right? Not so much. Brad was scratching the end of his nose when he said it, which shows dishonesty.
"The nose, like the penis, has erectile tissue, and when stressed, and perhaps lying, this tissue becomes engorged with blood and causes a tickle or itch that causes us to scratch it," Harris says. That's good to know.
As Emily berated Brad for having so much fun on his dates with the other ladies, Brad flashed what is known as the "death rattle" of relationships.
"He showed contempt; a brief one-sided smirk that shows a feeling of superiority and that he sees her as 'lower' than him," Harris says.
We had the death rattle, but what about the death blow?
When Harrison asked Emily, "Do you see yourself marrying Brad?" she shook her head no, negating her eventual verbal answer of "yes."
"When in doubt, go with the answer people give you unconsciously; it will be closer to the truth," Harris says.
In my opinion, Brad could have found love on the Bachelor this time! If he hadn’t been so bent on getting Emily to open up (wasted so much time and energy) he may have noticed more about the other women! Chantal O and Brad would have made a great match! But, if he didn‘t love her?? Personally, I think he really did start to love her, and now he has BIG regrets. Emily wouldn’t open up and knew it’s what worked on him. She could play him and have him needing to find out more and more! That’s NOT love. It’s more like a “GAME” and WOW was She playing to win! However, she doesn’t really want what she won, and never did!! She couldn’t stand to look like a looser on TV! I feel bad for Brad, NOT EMILY! She’s a control freak that demands everything “Her Way“ and I see Brad being her whipping post to afraid to quit on her! Her CONTROL issues were obvious early on! He was rude to Chantal last night purely out of fear of the wrath of Emily! She was backstage watching and he BETTER behave! He had his orders!!! Don’t tell Chantal he really had fallen in love with her too, but loved someone else a little more! Oh no, Emily would had flipped! I think she always has an edge and she pokes the Bear purposely into anger! I saw a Man who started the show confident, in a great place in life missing ONE thing, and so ready for love and happily ever after! And I saw a Man leave the show a beaten down shell of who he was. Now he’s living in fear of the Woman he chose. He thought he made a mess on the Bachelor last time?? This time is much worse.. Because now he’s afraid of the public’s perception of him if they split up, so he seems to be still almost begging Emily to love him? She’s not worth it! She wore that black bracelet with her ex’s initials in Bold Silver ALL the time. Even to meet his family??
I agree.....Emily is a control freak and she will never move to Austin with Brad. Brad messed up picking her. She has too much baggage. Where were her parents?
Actually that black bracelet Emily wears is not just her ex's initials, they're also her daughter's initials also. Other than that, I agree whole heartedly with you.
I like Emily - but I think she's getting some pressure from Ricky's family. Her ex wasn't just "some driver," his dad owns Hendrick Motorsports - as in the owner of Jeff Gordon's et al team. If you had to choose between a guy you barely know who lives half the country away and the billionaires who you've known for at least half your life and who provide for you and their granddaughter, you'd probably feel pressure too. I feel bad for Brad this time around - but then, I feel bad for anyone who looks as good as most of these people and can't get a date.
~Lyn, Outstanding and spot on! As I read your post I though to myself - exactly, yep, she's right, that's the way I saw everything... You know the saying: I could not have said it better!! I did not even think it as good until I read your post. lol
Haven't we seen all of this crap before? This guy is a gay poser and all the producers are doing is setting the gullible public up for a third round for this ahole. Please don't fall for it again. It's garbage.
Thanks, I got a bit wordy but meant every word I said! It was longer I cut a lot out! 8-) I didn't know her very cute little girl had the same initials as her father. Still I think for the type of show it was?? She could have left that bracelet at home! I think Ricky will be with her forever! Not many men will want to stick around knowing they will forever be in 2nd place!
I meant Ricky as in Her boyfriend/fiancé' will always be with her. If she could except the loss and move on. That beautiful little girl of hers won't scare anyone out of a relationship! It's Emily that does it! I wonder where little Ricky was every Monday night while Emily was screaming her head off at Brad on the phone? I'm SURE the little girl could hear her. Since Emily said herself she was LOUD!!
In the end, Chantel would have been the better choice. I think she really loved Brad (as much as she could at this point) - no one would put themselves out there and be so vulnerable as she did. I'm not so convinced that she met someone else (although I hope she did) - she may have just said that to save face. Also, her Dad could have been the Dad figure that Brad so desperately needs. And speaking of that, besides her daughter, where was the rest of Emily's family? Hmmmm....
abc and the show executives wasted out time this year by having brad back on. this was a waste of everyones time. He is not ready to be have a serious relationship and still shows that he is still a dreamer and immature. a man with a temper at that age should stay single, emily desires more
What people seem to be in sound bites from T.V. doesn't mean much. Having said that, Chantal was so obviously not being real--a big happy act with a lot of frustration underlying it was what I saw. I always ascertained the potential for Brad's temper, even in the sound bites. With Emily, I simply always wondered why she did the show...she didn't seem invested in any way.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

OMG .....YOU MUST BE YOUNG AND HAVE NO IDEA WHO HAS THE CONTROL PROBLEM.
I love everything you said and agree. But doesnt Emily look somewhat like his sister in law

JRH Initials on bracelete stands for Josephine "Ricky" Hendrick, her daughter's name, not ex-fiancee's.

The ONLY thing this guy cared about was being on television.

If she could except?? Duh to me!! I meant accept the loss and move on. Okay I am tired!! 8-)
That's what he gets for listening to his family...

Poor, poor Emily-she thinks the Southern Bell syndrome is still alive and working.
Brad should not have even asked his family's advice-unless he planned to live with all of them.
He totally missed the boat.

Emily admitted she has a worse temper than Brad! And a pick pick pick snot like Emily would make a preacher flip out!!!
