We now know it's splitsville for 'Bachelor' Brad Womack and Emily Maynard. Of course, we had to suffer the entire 'After the Rose' ceremony to learn that nothing is turning up roses for the reality television couple. Our body language expert Vincent Harris says he knew right from the start that these two were kaput. The subconscious doesn't lie, and Brad and Emily's bodies were pretty much screaming, "Get me the heck out of here!"
"I rarely stick my neck out this far, but this would not be a marriage that lasted long, or was too blissful while it did," Harris, the author of 'The Productivity Epiphany,' tells us.
Trouble was obvious right from the start of the show, when Chris Harrison asked the pair: "Do you consider yourself an engaged couple?"
Emily flashed a micro-expression of fear.
"It was a brief tightening and thinning of the lips, followed by 'I do' with a high pitched upward inflection at the end. This was indicative of doubt in what she is saying," Harris says.
While Brad was rubbing Emily's arm, she was patting his. No one wants a pat.
"Patting is what we do with people we have at an emotional distance; rubbing is a more intimate movement," Harris explains.
When Emily was asked a second time about being ready to get married, she said, "Right now, in this instant? I love you" (Upward inflection = Lies), "but no" (Powerful downward inflection on the "no" = She means no!)
Then we see Brad say: "The one thing I love about you among many things is your honesty." Sounds sweet right? Not so much. Brad was scratching the end of his nose when he said it, which shows dishonesty.
"The nose, like the penis, has erectile tissue, and when stressed, and perhaps lying, this tissue becomes engorged with blood and causes a tickle or itch that causes us to scratch it," Harris says. That's good to know.
As Emily berated Brad for having so much fun on his dates with the other ladies, Brad flashed what is known as the "death rattle" of relationships.
"He showed contempt; a brief one-sided smirk that shows a feeling of superiority and that he sees her as 'lower' than him," Harris says.
We had the death rattle, but what about the death blow?
When Harrison asked Emily, "Do you see yourself marrying Brad?" she shook her head no, negating her eventual verbal answer of "yes."
"When in doubt, go with the answer people give you unconsciously; it will be closer to the truth," Harris says.
EMILY: every episode was geared for RATINGS by ABC. Go with Brad and do some fun things together. Forget the MONDAY night episodes. My husband and I picked up on the ABC setups pretty early in the season. ABC has gotten pretty low in the last couple seasons. There is a lot of pressure on the entire cast. And Cris Harris loves every misleading move. He admitted that with Michele this season. I thought ABC set her up good with the girls in the house and Brad and the viewing audience. ALL FOR RATINGS. RATINGS. RATINGS. RAtings.
If I had to listen to Emily be a downer constantly, always question my motives, and control everything, I would have a temper too! She makes me want to shreak!!! I hope she goes back to NC and raises her daughter all by herself.
themeeker - you are right on the money! It's obvious they only picked this pair for their looks to sell them to the gullible public as genuine. The last Bachelor was the same story. They promote these beautiful looking gay men, pair them up with a hot girl who they "fall in love" with, only to expose them to fame and make money off of them, and if they get lucky take it one step further and create another reality show with their faces. Ugh, whoever watches this trash is bigger idiot than all of them.
Brad has a temper. Deal-Breaker. Run like the wind, Emily and daughter. ABC should have NEVER put Brad back on. Nothing goin' for him but abs and a temper. Give us a Ryan (Trista)!! Give us an Ali!
Holy Hannah! Didn't anyone hear Emily admit she had a worse temper than Brad?? Good grief, she screamed at him for hour's (daughter in the house) every Monday night for how many weeks?? Brad has a whole lot going for him. He had the gut's to go to counciling and didn't date for 3 years so he wouldn't make the same horrible mistakes his own father did. He finally worked through all that and only wanted ONE wife forever! He picked the WORST one of 20!!
Maybe if the show wouldn't concentrate more on the "wow" expensive beautiful locations they now travel the world to shot at, and gave the contestants the time to pay attention to each other instead of the fact they are on an African safari, they might end up actually learning something about each other and be able to make a better decision. This season must have cost a fortune, and we saw so little of the couple and more of the beautiful locations, I felt it was almost a travel show, not the Bachelor.
Brad had way to many "and I really mean it", "I'm being totally honest", "are you ok?" statements. It was just a ploy sending some of the women home early to show his sincerety (put them out of their misery). NO, this won't last! I really hope Chantal has met someone special, but all the tears were saying otherwise.
Chantel would have been the perfect match. He should not have listened to his family. They were all for Chantel , until they heard Emily’s sad story. Yes it was a very sad happening of events, for her in her young life. But that is where you could see in their faces . If he would have stuck to his gut feeling , he would be with the one that truly had developed deep ,loving feelings for him, and it was apparent that he did love her. Family is not always right, should have gone with his heart.
Don't do it Em. He is a big mistake and I just hope you don't make one by marrying him.
Remember him saying as a father to your daughter he would disciple her when needed? Who in the world would say something like that on national tv or anywhere right now. He doesn't even know her and that was on his mind.
And how about the TEMPER issue? He would not make anyone a good anything. He is selfish and a controlling person. You saw the tapes of his other dates so you know he can act. That's what he's doing with you now.
If you wait and just date him for a few months you will continue to see him in REAL life and he will not be the one you want for a husband or father to your daughter. This show is not the way to pick a life partner.
Brad is a bachelor, is not the marring type, is stuck on himself, and there are other things I just can't put a finger on. Don't like the guy....period
I probably understand how Brad feels. I like him in the past had deep feelings for someone like Emily. However, it was so difficult because no matter how much and how long I continue to pursue this girl, we end up nowhere.
Emily is a lovely woman but difficult to be with honestly. I am not saying that Brad is wasting his time but he should not give up. He needs to break those barriers so that he can finally marry Emily.
Emily was (is) a big phoney in many ways. What a show and mask, she is (was) pretending to be so sweet. Women like that (lots of them in the South) but on this sweet innocent demeanor, but they are stubbon selfish "wills of iron." Besides, how could she consider him cheating with all these other women when he didn't make any PROMISES to her? What the hell did she thing she was on anyway???wtf???? GROW UP!!!!!
Why does it shock people that these relationships on the Bachelor never works out? You cannot start a relationship like that or find love like that. You might find lust but not true love. Lust only last a little while and then burns out but true love lasts. So stop being upset and surprised by this sham of a relationship and move on.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
