Jillian Michaels 'Ashamed' She Couldn't Get Pregnant

America's toughest trainer, Jillian Michaels, landed in hot water last year when she told Women's Health that she would rather adopt an African baby as opposed to getting pregnant because "I can't handle doing that to my body." Readers piled on, with one lambasting Jillian for promoting the "extremely misguided idea that pregnancy is some sort of 'disease' that women should avoid."

In an interview with The New York Times over the weekend, Jillian addressed the callous-sounding comments, explaining that she has endometriosis and "most likely couldn't get pregnant" anyway.

Friends of the 'Biggest Loser' star tell me she felt the need to speak out after months and months of getting hammered for her badly worded comment.

"Jillian would much rather have kept her private life private," a friend tells me. "She thought the nasty comments would stop but once it became clear that they wouldn't she felt the need to address it head on."

Lots of women struggle with having children, and my source says that if Jillian "can make just one woman struggling to conceive right now feel better about herself then it was all worth it."

In her full comment to the Times, Jillian listed a laundry list of reasons she couldn't get pregnant and says she felt "ashamed" because people expect her to be the "healthiest woman in the world."

"The reality is that I have endometriosis, and I most likely couldn't get pregnant. I've had the X-rays, my tubes are closed, the uterine lining is too thick, blah, blah, blah. I was ashamed about it because I thought I'm supposed to be the healthiest woman in the world, and what does this say about me if I can't have kids of my own. It was insecurity, which I have to work on."

so true. and who the hell does she think she is :"If I can make just one woman struggling to conceive right now feel better about herself then it was all worth it.".....Get over yourself Julian. No woman in her right mind looks up to this egotistical, horse-face, reality-show 'trainer'. "Toughest trainer", try most annoying wanna-be celebrity who happens to act like a trainer on a reality show.

Exactly- took the words right out of my mouth. She should be ashamed to have said something like that. Having a child is the most joyous thing ever, and if you are so conceited that you would rather have the "pretty body"-then there's really no place on earth for people like that. But if it makes her feel good to be ignorant, then so be it. Heck, look at Heidi Klum- she had a baby and still looks good. But, IMHO, Jill needs to make up for that man-face she has, so I guess having a nice body is how she does it.

its also a choice any woman can make, i would rather adopt, therte are so many children living in bad group care and horrid homes that deserve a good life if i chose to give it to them i would be happy not to physicaly give birth to them. just becuse my body dosent produce it dose not mean i cant love a child as much

Testosterone tends to kill insemination, real or artificial. As with most people and partiularly celeb types who think they are there image, feel that they must protect that image at all costs. What a sad and desperate existence Jilian lives.

I agree.. she has a body to die for, more money than she knows what to do with and films for 3 hours a day. Pooooor baby... LOL

Good for her for adopting a baby that needs a home. Too many people pop out children because they think they "have to have their own child". That is crap. There are so many children who need adoptive parents and I applaud her for doing this. Who cares that she doesnt want to do that to her body. Personally, I wouldnt want to either. I have weight issues and was always afraid of blimping up and never losing the weight. It is hard enough not being pregnant. Too many people on this planet. Reproduction should be a privledge not a right.
