Katy Perry's Mom Shops Around Book About Life With Famous Daughter
Katy Perry may have kissed a girl and liked it, but her mother isn't so hot on her daughter's risque act.
Page Six reports that Perry's mom, Mary Perry Hudson, is shopping around a book about her Christian ministry as well as the life choices her daughter is making and the effect they've had on her family.
Perry, who began her career as a Christian singer under her real name, Katy Hudson, has given differing accounts of her upbringing, although most have described her parents as strict disciplinarians.
"We were never allowed to swear," Perry has said. "I'd get into trouble just for saying 'Hell no.' If you dropped a hammer on your toe in our house you had to say something like 'Jiminy Christmas.'
"The only music we were allowed to listen to was gospel. No wonder I rebelled!"
Despite Perry's success, Mary Perry Hudson doesn't want people to assume she's piggy-backing on her daughter's fame. In the proposal for Hudson's book, it states, "Amid a torrent of negative reports from tabloid magazines and entertainment shows, Mary Hudson wants to tell 'her story' and dispel a lot of rumors. Katy's success has impacted her ministry in both negative and positive ways."
"She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career. This memoir is to set the record straight. It is not Christian proselytizing or a Katy Perry tell-all. It is the story of Mary Perry Hudson."
While Mary Hudson doesn't support all of her daughter's choices, she does support the most important one: Hudson's marriage to raunchy comedian
Russell Brand. At this year's Academy Awards, Hudson announced to
PEOPLE, "I just can't wait for them to have babies. Grandma, here we come!"

Using her daughters success to promote herself and her Christian ministry...what a great Mom and Christian woman. Pathetic.

YOU DON'T KNOW KATY'S PARENTS, I DO. THEY ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE WHO YOU DON'T KNOW!!
Let's see, would her mothers name happen to be Dina?
You don't have the right to judge people you don't know? Isn't that what all bible-thumpers do?
Yes, Jordan. You are absolutely correct. 100%.
What is up with all these celebrity parents and their tell-all books about their famous children. Then they have the nerve to get confused as to why their children cut them out of their life. This is just another way to make money off your child's work. Not one of us has been sitting around the dinner table or the water cooler at work wondering about Katy Perry's mother, so the excuse she is making about setting the record straight is just ridiculous.

Uh oh. This is the same reason Jennifer Aniston didn't talk to her mother for ten years and why Rihanna's dad is out of her life. Better watch it, mom.

I hate to point out that no one cares what Mom Perry has to say. Maybe she can sell it at church bazaars. Maybe they're interested. The rest of us just aren't.

Speak for yourself. A lot of people have wondered just what her parents think of the path Katy chose, with the upbringing that she had. Without her parents, there would *be* no Katy Perry. I would like to hear the parents' side of the story - we've heard a lot from Katy's side. I hope that any book in the making sells well for the ministry/missions/charity. Katy and her parents clearly love one another, despite her choosing a non-conservative life.
now matter how this woman wants to wrap it up in a nice little bow, she is still using her daughter's fame to cash in. She is neither a real Christian nor a good mother. If you don't agree with your daughter's choices or career then don't make money off of it !!

Yawn. What a sponge.

Why in the world would her mother sell her out like this? Horrible, horrible. Maybe her mother should speak to Jennifer Annistons mother and ask her how it feels not to talk to her daugther for 10 years. Is the money really worth destroying your family?

Oh, so she's not "piggy backing" on her daughters success, well then what the "h-e-double hockey sticks" do you call it! Give me a break!

Awww, poor Katy. Grew up in a loving home where her parents gave a crap about her. You should have tried living with my mother and her alcoholic, rage filled a**hole husbands. I was allowed to do whatever whenever and frankly I'm lucky I didn't end up a prostitute crackhead. Just look at Bobby Christina (Whitney Houstons kid). No offense Katy, but your mom has the right to defend herself.

Who the Hell is Katy......Perry was it? Never heard of her!

If her mother does make any money on this book will she give it all to charity? Probably not. He mom sounds like a scary Christian. I've been a Christian all my life and have tried to raise my children ( I'm now a widow raising my 2 teens alone) to the very best of my ability, and they never give me a moments trouble. This mom needs to let go, and let her adult daughter live her life and be there as a mom if her child needs advice. Writing a book is a terrible example of how to be a parent of an adult child. I think the mom needs to look into her faith and deal with any issues that way, not by writing a trashy book against her child.

Okay, let's just say for the sake of argument that her mother really does want to write her own book about her ministries. Why does she have to write about Katy in it? Writing about your disagreements with your daughter's choices in a very public way is in bad taste. That's a private and sensitive conversation to have in a very personal way. But as long as we're on the topic...I don't think that any parent ever agrees with all of a child's choices, but that's part of being a parent. If you want clones of you and your spouse, don't have children. The only reason that she would include information about her relationship with Katy is because that is what will sell her books. So ultimately, she's looking to exploit her daughter for a buck.

im a mother of three girls, and iam raising them to rise above the influence...sorry but the girls today are sick...they are honestly disgusting..just look at jersey shore and real world...Ive watched these shows just to see what im up against as a parent. If my daughters turn out to be promiscuious and trampy, it wont be because of me, it will be becuase they are weak, insecure, and easily fooled weather it be by money, popularity, and attention. Its truely a generation in crisis. Mom {Perry wants you to know that she doesn't support Katie's antics all in the name of fame and money. I would be sad, but I have faith that Katy will turn it around i really do. Firework is AWESOME!!!

Not a fan of Perry or her music, but OMG lady get the stick out of your bleep! You are riding on her coat tails by writing a book about her and using it for your own self promoting purposes! True christians or I should say a true christian or for that matter A GOOD MOTHER WHO IS PROUD OF THEIR CHILD'S SUCCESS wouldn't do that. Hate bible thumpers.. bunch of hypocrites.

I agree. Who is Kate Perry? I don't watch TV 50 hours a week. I have a life and pay no attention to Hollywood and have no use at all for celebrities.
