'Friday' Singer Rebecca Black Speaks Out

"Yesterday was Thursday. Today it is Friday." No, we're not trying to give you a lesson on the days of the week. Those are the lyrics to teen singer Rebecca Black's song, 'Friday,' which has the Internet buzzing about whether or not it is "The Worst Song Ever."

After earning more than 16 million YouTube views, becoming a top Twitter Trending Topic and landing at No. 31 on the iTunes Top 100, Black should be celebrating. Instead, she claims she's found herself as the target of hurtful online bullying -- something she's trying not to let bother her.

Black was interviewed on 'Good Morning America' and spoke out on her fast rise to fame and the hurtful comments she's received.

When asked if the past week or so has seemed like a dream, Black replied, "I really do. I can't tell whether I'm awake or not."

She continued, "After seeing it go form 4,000 views to 70,000 views in one night and then waking up to see it was at 200,000 views, that's when I knew it was going to be big."

Her parents shelled out an unspecified amount of money for her to record the song and video with the Ark Music Factory, according to GMA.

"It doesn't bother me," she said when asked about comments about it being the Worst Song Ever. It's the remarks telling her to go "cut herself" and "get an eating disorder" that cross the line in her book.

Admitting she cried when she first saw some of the nasty comments, Black defends her music endeavor.

"I think I have talent on some level," she said. "I don't think I'm the worst singer, I don't think I'm the best singer."

The 13-year-old singer is just that -- 13 years old. She has dreams of becoming a pop star and has caught Bieber Fever, referring to teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber.

"Justin, if you're watching this right now, would you do a duet with me?" she asked the singer. "That would be just unreal -- it would make my life!"

Rebecca I do not think it was that bad, even my 12 year old daughter liked it!!! Keep your head up high!!! Some people are probably just jealous.

I agree, she is only thirteen and this was a GREAT effort. I hope we see more of her, she is very special.

Very good Rebecca. You have a very nice voice, and the video is well done. Don't pay attention to those who are jealous and have nothing better to do but to try to discourage you. Hope to see and hear more from you and that you will be singing with whoever you dream of singing with. Hang on to your dreams...you can do it.

This poor girl is just another victim of delusional, over-indulgent helicopter parents telling her she's good at something she is definitely NOT good at. I think encouraging kids to do big things is great..IF they can do it. This kid is not a singer. Her parents are idiots for encouraging her to think she is one. That nasal whine of hers haunts my nightmares.

Ok, I'm not saying she ISN'T nasal... but that's hardly a good criticism! Have you EVER listened to Madonna??? She's one of the most successful artists of all time and her voice is EXACTLY this nasally!!! This is a decent, fun song with a good singer, especially for 13!!

Does it not disturb anyone that this is a 13 year old in a music video about partying on the weekends, catching rides with boys old enough to drive, and dressing like a street walker in some scenes(since when do 13 year olds where high heels)?? A girl her age shouldn't be partying on the weekends anyway. Now that we have Teen Mom' and 16 and preg' on TV, how are everyday teens sopose to determine whats right and wrong when they have these kind of influences. The song isn't terrible for a girl her age, but the video plays a different tune.

I do totally agree with you Steve. My grandaughter is 13 and I would really not want to think she is thinking about partying, hanging with guys old enough to drive and dressing that way, omg!It is great for kids to have fun but really now let's put a limit on it and make it age appropriate.

Lyrics are ok but i think the whole vibe and beat carry this song. Is really good for a 13yr old. This is better than that song from vannesa anne hudgens

Awful awful awful song, and disgrace to "music". First off, she's 13 years old, singing about partying on Friday night? What the hell does she know about that? The lyrics are horrible, and not very well thought out, even for a 13 year old. Her voice is auto-tuned a million times. I feel sad for mankind to know that 16m people have watched this.

Also, to those who are saying people are jealous, perhaps you can explain of WHAT exactly someone would be jealous of? I'm not jealous of some 13 year old girl who made the worst "music" video ever. Yeah, not an ounce of jealousy there.
