Renee Zellweger 'Wanted a Ring' from Bradley Cooper Before Split

Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellweger have broken up, leaving family, friends and fans to ask ... what went wrong?

"They were such a great couple that we are all shocked," a friend of Renee's tells me. "We all thought for sure they were going to be together forever after they moved in together last fall -- we're really sad."

My source says Renee even skipped the Golden Globes in January to be with Bradley when his father died. "But after that she wanted a ring, and he just wasn't ready to propose," the friend tells me.

Bradley, who at 36 is five years younger than Renee, split from wife Jennifer Esposito back in 2007 after only four months of marriage. Renee divorced husband Kenny Chesney in 2005, citing "fraud."

"There is no doubt both of these people have not had a great experience being married -- however, Renee was ready to give it another try with Bradley," a friend of the couple's tells me. "She's 41 and has an Oscar. She's starting to think about children and settling down while Bradley loves his life exactly as it is. It's taken him a long time to be an A-list actor, and he's enjoying all the perks, fame and opportunities that have come his way following 'The Hangover.'"

But is there any hope left for the couple?

"They are both in very different places in their lives and unfortunately just grew apart."

Clairovoyant: CHESNEY was on her "success" level and that where she should seek other mates.

Yes, you are exactly right!!!! That is the level she needs to be on, the same one that she was on when she married the guy on her level and it lasted all of what, a month? Are you serious? She needs to do something about her eating disorder, eat a cheeseburger and find another guy.

Renee lost the first love of her life early--Sims Ellison--back in Austin, Texas, before she was famous. I don't think she ever got over it. And if you don't know who Bradley Cooper is go see Limitless--it rocks!

Renee, get some meat on those bones, curve up woman; look for love away from the artificial glitter of Gollywood, give some young normal guy a chance to get to know you; sometimes if you share the same careers your relationships get to be unadventurous. I am not taken, just too old for your taste.

Are Hollywood marriages real marriages or are they publicity generated career moves? Why is that I see,in the future, a lot of 70s and 80s something "Hollywood has beens" still looking for that "special" someone.
