Looks like someone was taking his role in 'Broken Arrow' a bit too seriously.Employees at Australia's national airline, Qantas, are more than a bit miffed after actor John Travolta showed up on-screen in full pilot regalia to introduce their most recent in-flight safety video.
Travolta, who is a certified private pilot, tells passengers, "This is your captain speaking -- well, maybe not today," which Qantas employees have panned as "tacky" and "corny," in addition to being insistent about having a "real" pilot make the announcement.

I guess I always thought the safety video or demonstration was something not to be taken lightly. My sister is a former flight attendant and she took the safety part of her job very seriously.
I doubt that John Travolta would be around to take the lead in case of an emergency.
I agree Deb. John is super. So nice to see something else. Tired of stupid Sheen and all his silly antics...

go to google maps and type in "jumbolair florida" , switch to satillite view and look for the house to the right at the north end of the runway and that is travolta's house...zoom in and you will see a quantas 707 parked there....he knows what he's talking about religion not withstanding

Scientology is NOT a religion.....its a CULT
I didn't see a darn thing wrong with it. In fact, if I'm stressed out because of flying and that came on, it would relax me. The last thing I need is an "up tight" pilot 2 drinks away from slamming the plane into the side of a mountain telling me about safety.
Nice work John!

JOHN TRAVOLTA CAN DO ANYTHING HE WANTS, BECAUSE WHATEVER HE DOES IS SO GREAT. I JUST LOVE HIM. HE IS A WONDERFUL, NICE GUY. AND NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES, ITS GOOD WITH ME. AND SHOULD BE WITH EVERYBODY. THEY ARE JUST JELIOUS OF HIM.

I feel the same way about Charlie Sheen!
he should have said "get off my case toilet face".

That is hilarious. I wonder how many people get it!
John Travolta is an experienced JET PILOT and owns his own jet. He has flown for decades - safely.
This was a stroke of genius by Qantas - no one watches the in flight safety info any more. If having John Travolta do the presentation instead of a flight attendant and getting more people to watch, that's great! Way to go Qantas and John T.!

It seems more and more like Australia is the Arizona of the Pacific.
