Video: Casey Abrams Sings for the Save on 'American Idol'

Every season there is at least one elimination that shocks everyone. That's the primary reason that 'American Idol' added the "Judge's Save." It allows the panel to save one contestant from America's bad choices. And this week, they were put to the test.

It came down to Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams for the final slot in the Bottom Three. Haley, who's been there the past two weeks, and Casey who's been a favorite since the beginning. Shock spread across the studio when Haley was sent to safety.

It went from shock to horror when it was announced Casey was the one who received the least votes and would be sent packing, unless the judges used their "Save." With only one per season, it's rarely seriously considered this early. Certainly Casey didn't expect it. Watch the video after the jump.

After only a few moments of singing, though, Randy Jackson stopped Casey. "We don't need to hear you sing anymore."

"Yeah, this is crazy wrong," Steven Tyler concurred. "We've made a decision here to keep you on."

Nobody was more stunned than Abrams, who looked like he might pass out. Stunned, he ran up to the judges for confirmation that he'd heard them right.

"It's Top 11," he said quietly. "Why would you do this?"

As stunned as the judges were, I think if the public votes him off, he should be gone otherwise what the hell is the point of people voting????
He may be a great singer but I don't think he is "Idol" material.

Totally agree. The public voted, and it should have stood, especially since everyone knows they would not have saved any one of the girls, or made that girl part of the tour. Stop pimping your favorites, and start doing some actual judging for a change. Show seems to be all about Jennifer's wardrobe and Casey illness.

This guy is too excitable. Getting saved just about killed him. I don't care for his voice at all, but he is interesting because you never know what he is going to do. Anyhow, I hope he doesn't die on stage. AI isn't Hunger Games...Or is it?

I was happy to see that he was the low vote getter. His performance is a frantic scream session and his reprieve attempt was horrible, the judges had to stop him early because it would be difficult to save him on his attempt the way it was developing. The judges wasted their vote.

That result was soooo faked. If you don't think that they rigged it, you're truly naiive about "reality" production! While the ratings have been good, the Idol is still runing lower than last year. They want to push it past, to show that they can beat the ratings they had with Simon Cowell. Too bad, they had to rely on such an obvious cheap stunt.Poor Casey, his acting wasn't nearly as good as his singing!

Total rig job! They announced that it was pre-determined that if this should happen then the top 11 would be in the concert tour.....DUH! They like all of them so much they rigged it this way so they can sell lotsa tickets!!

I think they should have let him go.... Casey is okay but not good enough to use the one save! I'm shocked Naemia is still there, she needs to go! James, Scotty, Pia, and Paul are the best ones.. I like Jacob but I can't stand watching the stupid faces he makes, Stenfo is really good but I don't know if he can keep his eyes open! And I can't stand any of the judges, they all suck!

I'm glad they saved him. He actually has talent and is different than all the pop crap. As for him being unkempt I think he looks good. He's a handsome kid and has his own mind of what he likes.

Casey is himself and makes the music his own. And I love how he takes over the stage. I think America was totally "tone deaf" if they could not hear the talent that Casey brings out. And I feel he has more to bring forth. Casey is Americas next Idol!!!!

I'm glad they saved Casey. He actually has true talent which is something I wouldn't say about all of the other contestants. He is definitely one of the top five. Go Casey!!!

Should have sent them both home. Haley sucks and Casey sucks. But Haley's the worst.

Did anyone even read the story?? People are taking shots at Haley and she shouldn't have even been in this story. She wasn't in the bottom 3....duh.

LOVE that they saved Casey.That was Awesome. The judges know what thet are doing. Love Steven,Like Randy,Jennifer, I never that it's all about her till I saw her in the show. OMG....
Still Steven and Randy make it worth seeing.
