Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest Thursday afternoon in an intimate ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California, The Associated Press reports. About four dozen family members attended the funeral that lasted an hour, Glendale police spokesman Tom Lorenz said.Four stretch limousines transported Taylor's family to and from the funeral. Per Jewish customs (she converted before her wedding to Eddie Fisher in the late '50s,) she was buried within 48 hours of death.
Though barricades were set up in the cemetery to insure privacy, helicopters and new vans surrounded the cemetery and dozens of fans paid their respects outside the gates.
Forest Lawn Cemetery is also the final resting place for several other Hollywood icons including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Walt Disney, Nat King Cole and Taylor friend, Michael Jackson.

No words written about those freaks from Kansas. Guess they were too stupid to realize her religion.

I think it's great that those domestic terrorists weren't there. Maybe THEY died.
Good for her! She finally got some privacy. :)

May she rest in peace. I am surprised that she choose to be buried in the mausoleum where Michael Jackson was laid to rest and not near her parents. I guess it really does not matter.

She was actually laid to rest next to her parents. It just so happens that both her parents, AND Michael Jackson are buried there. I was thinking the same thing as you, so I looked it up. guess she gets the best of both....
Actually her parents are buried in Westwood Memorial Park in West Los Angeles. I have been to her parents graves before. She and Michael Jackson are buried over in Glendale at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. About a 30 min drive over the hill.
Can someone explain the reasoning behind the Jewish faith's belief of burial within 48 hours? I'm not asking to judge or anything, just curious and would like to be informed. I guess someone at the Westboro church is going to have a chapped butt! lol........So much for their "protest". Either they were unaware of her faith and the custom, or they didn't have time to form a protest (or were just too cowardly to show up). Good for Elizabeth and her family, to be able to have some much deserved peace at this very difficult time. Rest in peace, Elizabeth, and know that so many people loved you.

Jewish burials take place as quickly as possible, following a principle of honoring the dead (k'vod hamet). Only if immediate relatives cannot arrive in time from abroad, or there is not enough time for burial before Shabbat or a holiday, are burials postponed for a day. Anything less is considered a "humiliation of the dead,".
Rest in Peace lovely lady. I will remember you fondly.

About the burial in 24/48 hours it is mainly because of Jewish traditon and respect to the deceased.

Dang that was quick, unlike her friend Michael Jackson who was finally buried after what...something like 6 months or so.

Michael Jackson was actually interred in a reasonable amount of time, following autopsy and media attention...you're thinking of James Brown who wasn't buried for quite sometimes.
for those insensitive bozos who plan on picketing Elizabeth Taylor's funeral -- her family and friends should have a creme pie truck follow the funeral and when those disrespectful holier than thou bigots show up at the funeral everyone who cared about her should grab a pie and wack those cowards until they run them out of town.

I See -- I Saw -- I have seen -- Didn't you learn in school that you cannot seen something. And, that if you use the word seen, you have to use a helping verb with it. I Have Seen!
