Expert Weighs In: Did Rose McGowan Get More Plastic Surgery?

Rose McGowan has long been known for both her acting talent and her beauty, but on Wednesday's episode of 'Law & Order: SVU,' the actress showed off a dramatically different look (see photo at far left).

In 2007, McGowan was injured in a car accident that left her with a deep cut on her face, for which she has admitted to undergoing plastic surgery.

"I didn't realize I was hurt until I put my hand to my face and felt the flap of skin. My glasses had sliced me under my eye," she said following the incident.

While the accident and subsequent surgery left her with a barely visible scar beneath her right eye, by the time she was back on the big screen in 'Grindhouse' that same year, her face looked noticeably different, causing many to speculate she had more than just reconstructive work done.

Dr. Jennifer Walden, a Manhattan plastic surgeon who has not treated McGowan, believes that the actress has had a number of procedures since her turn in the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino-directed double feature that have led to her "done" look.

"The lower lid's pulling down a bit," Walden tells PopEater. "It's a possibility that she had eyelid surgery and is blaming her lower lid drooping on having cut her eye."

During her appearance on 'SVU,' 37-year-old McGowan was virtually unrecognizable, seeming to have dramatically altered her gorgeous face even more since her initial visit to the plastic surgeon's office. Not only did the actress look noticeably slimmer, her face appeared stiff and partially immobile.

"I think she's had soft tissue fillers injected into her face, into her lips, her cheeks, and that has led to a more unnatural look," says Walden, who believes that McGowan's altered facial shape may be the result of jaw line fillers or a chin implant.

In addition, "It looks like in the past she's had her nose done," adds Walden. "The bridge has been narrowed, and the tip looks more refined."

McGowan's overworked face has also led to her appearing older than her 37 years.

"She has a crepey look to her skin, which is a lifestyle thing," says Walden, who suggests that long hours on sets may be prematurely aging the actress. McGowan's seeming penchant for facial fillers isn't helping either. "Being over-injected early on can lead someone to look older than their stated age," warns Walden.

Her face was disturbing to look at; I almost couldn't watch her. Her face didn't seem to want to move and it was VERY creepy. Her nose looked different too. What is up with women? 37 isn't old, but these women feel the need to start with the face fillers and botox so early that they actually make themselves appear older! Lindsay Lohan does it too, she's what...25? Her face looks bloated. I saw a recent picture of Heather Locklear, who is closer to my age, I think she backed off a bit and looks much better! Melissa Rivers is another, her face looks weird too. I'm not opposed to it, but use it sparingly and when you actually need it.

so sad. I couldn't tell if she was Rose or not untill I heard her voice. I wish there wasn't so much pressure in our society for girls and women to fit a certain physical image, to consider themselves beautiful. Being unique is beautiful!

No...she looked dramatically different! I was looking forward to watching that episode because she was going to be in it. As soon as I saw her, I wasn't positive it was her until I heard her voice. I always thought she was attractive before (and not saying she's dog ugly now) but her "new" face does not look good. It's very stiff like, her face barely moved when she spoke. If you look at a better side by side pic than the ones above,you'll totally see the difference. Not quite sure why she would take it so far. I can understand the reconstructive surgery but everything else? Look at Mariska though, she has a scar on her face from the car accident she was in as a little girl and I think she looks amazing!

OMG!!! She looks AWFUL! I literally paused SVU to google her surgery HENCE me writing this message! 'Paige' has OFFICIALLY died and an inflated faced monster taken her please. RIP x

She was so gorgeous in Charmed. I'm watching the SVU episode right now and it makes me so upset. The first thing I did was type in "Rose McGowan plastic surgery" and I realized that it was indeed her in the episode. Such a shame. Her face is gross looking and stiff now, especially around her mouth area.

She was so beautiful in Charmed.... I understand being in a accident but she definitely did more then just have a bad injury fixed... I love her but I think she looked horrible in SVU, not gonna lie.

apparently all the surgery she owns up to is the 2007 one to fix the cut, but she looks even different from then, and I doubt one surgery can change her appearance that dramatically over time.

Rose needs to stop. She was so beautiful and now looks very tweaked! Also, we have the same birthday and I am 55 with not an ounce of surgery and still look quite young! Hey Rose, you have to stop and just concentrate on your career.
