Tori Spelling's New Show a 'Far Cry' From Real Wedding Planning, Says Industry Professional

Want a wedding featuring your love of pugs? How about themed nuptials illustrating Hollywood parties, 'Arabian Nights' or Argentine tango? Even a Steampunk soiree with romance from the 1920s and drama from the '30s? All you need is new wedding planner extraordinaire
Tori Spelling.
"It is not surprising that Tori would want to be part of this cottage industry that has gotten hotter since the real estate market crashed," New York/Florida wedding planner Cheryl Clisby tells
PopEater. "She and Dean [McDermott, Spelling's husband] have a sizable social media following and a very successful TV series. Their celebrity status and Hollywood connections will be a draw for young, adventurous couples who will get a wedding above and beyond what they could ever plan or afford on their own."
Spelling's adventures in wedding planning will be chronicled for her latest reality show 'Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings,' which premieres April 6 on the Oxygen channel.
The eight-episode series is designed to help couples indulge in their choice of over-the-top weddings with details created by Spelling, McDermott and James McGowan, a talented artist and interior designer who is also a regular on Oxygen's popular 'Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood,' now in its sixth season.
"Every bride wants a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I believe with my design background and the help of Dean and James, we can turn her dream into a reality," Spelling, who also designs children's clothing and jewelry, told reporters.
McDermott helps the groom-in-waiting deal with the stress of putting together a super-duper wedding, while the creative input from McGowan, who owns two adorable pugs, adds the Midas touch.
While Clisby believes seasoned producers and vendors willing to donate goods and services for promotional purposes, accompanied by an accelerated planning process will make for great reality TV, Clisby wants people to know that reality, well, is not always for real.
"What viewers will see is a far cry from the real life challenges that professional wedding planners face on a daily basis," she says. "Earning a living while juggling multiple clients and myriad real wedding details is hard work."
Each previously divorced, Spelling and McDermott, executive producers of the series, know how difficult weddings of all shapes and sizes can be. They promise viewers the team will do whatever it takes to make each couple's wedding fantasy come true.

No Thanks. These two don't know the true meaning of marriage.

They have no experience doing this. The show is doing not work, not them. Tori is doing anything to make money and keep Dean working. I like Tori but she is trying so hard to do everything and anything to make money and she is just another plain person.

"Design background"? Really, Tori? Really? You mean you work with a stylist and have them put things together for you and take the credit for it, right?

The Tori and Dean Reality Show was the one Reality Show I was really into. I got hooked on it; and I must say, I really enjoyed watching it without all arugments and fights that occur on those other Reality shows. All the best to you Tori and Dean.

Tori is so ugly--she should wear a bag over head, preferably black plastic
